In PA, a boy is playing field hockey and has helped them get to the State Finals. Now this school is a powerhouse already, so it's not like he has taken over the sport.

This begs the question. Is this fair? There isn't a boy sport that compares to it (which is one of the main arguments for Title IX). Should he be allowed to play because there is no boys' field hockey?

Yes. If the girls can wrestle (we have several that do in my area), then the boys should be allowed to play Volleyball, or in this case, Field Hockey.

That's my opinion as well. I think it'd be interesting to know if this school had lacrosse. Would that be considered the equivalent?

You don't have boys volleyball in your area?

But to the issue...Yes.

Yes they have lacrosse. I just looked up their school's website. They have boys and girls lacrosse. So no field hockey would not be an equivalent.

Ehh, I've never watched more than a few seconds of field hockey. As long as the other girls aren't at risk of being hurt by a physically stronger/faster boy, then it seems ok. Main difference with girls playing boy sports is those girls are choosing that risk and accepting that. Other girls on these field hockey teams really have no such choice.

Although, I still think it must suck to have to wrestle a girl.

Should Boys Play Girl Sports?

Should he be allowed to play because there is no boys' field hockey?

Should the boy play and should he be allowed are *two different questions.

Yes I think he should be allowed.

No I don't think he should play.

I don't think a boy should be playing on a girls team in any sport,I would think that he could find another sport to keep himself busy or try and start a boys team for a club sport. The only reason I could see a boy wanting to play on a girls team is if they get to shower together.

The high school I went to had the following

The school I currently teach at:

Most schools don't. Boys Vball isn't sanctioned by the OHSAA yet, because not enough schools have boy Vball.

Just out of curiosity, Wildcats, where do you live/are you from that did have boys volleyball? I probably would have played it if they had it. I always enjoyed volleyball.
