QUESTION: When it's all said and done, and still with 2 more boys still to finish their careers here, will the Hughes family go down in history as the greatest FAMILY in Campbell football history?
If not already, who is? I can think of a few families off the top that either have multiple HOFs, but what's your opinions?
Carwell (Larry & Jim)
Land/Patton (Mel, Shawn & possibly Dominic this year from Poland)
Costantino (John Sr., John Jr. & Carmen)
Rudiak (Jerry, Eric & Mark)
Cvercko (Andy & Jack)
Hazimihalis (Lefty, Jim, Theo, Todd, Pano...etc.)
This is limited to fathers, sons and brothers. Im sure I'm missing some but Im really hard pressed to find another family that's had as much success at Campbell than the Hughes, and as I stated there are still 2 more that haven't even suited up for varsity yet and they are both just as good.
Thoughts??

Also alot of the guys mentioned above were primarily defensive players and/or linemen...
To me it's neck and neck between Hughes and Land/Patton

It has to be land/patton. absolutely has to be. im sorry but the level of competition has to be considered here. land played against the svc and patton played against the mvc. also being drafted in the third round by the dolphins has to seal it. no one other than babich was ever drafted any higher. pattons accomplishments we all know well. you did forget the cverko brothers.

Don't forget to add Glen Land graduating class of '86 (Mel's brother). He probably would have held the school rushing record had they not switched him from TB to mainly DB. Glen was also a hell of a bball player.

The Cverckos weren't left out.
I did forget the Gores with Knuckles and Huleo.
Land/Patton is one hell of a combo, I'm just sayin Lester ended as one of the best qbs in school history and Ja'Les is already one of the top RBs in school history...yet people say the youngest 2 are the most talented. Obviously we have to wait and see how they play out but they definately have a strong case.
Sidenote: Sikora and Guidos take their 2nd visit to Mount Union tomorrow, I'd love to see them both end up there together.

Hey Lets go devil's... Get hold of me... i would love to get the highlight film up on our youtube channel.. I'm about to get hold of the 87 and 64 season and the 86 also... so yes i would love to get my hands on that video... I'm working on getting the 99 season....
Right now people don't see how close Ja'les style of running is to Patton's.. just so close to call,... i seen him run and first thing that came to my mind was Patton...

Lets go Devils...any truth to phillips leaving for ursuline? his facebook page says he attends youngstown ursuline? but i know he goes to campbell right now, benjamin phillips? Is this the kid ursulines been recruiting so hard?

very disappointing...his facebook page hes all about ursuline. and he still plays basketball for campbell and still goes to campbell. he shouldnt be allowed to put that jersey on. if i was his teammates id kick him off the team.

CORRECTION: Ben Phillips...according to him, is staying in Campbell. His cousin who goes to ursuline set up his facebook account and wants him to go to ursuline. His cousin is bothering him supposively. Ben says he is staying in Campbell. Of course this is all speculation, but the kid is saying he is staying.

Well I know for a fact during football season he was bragging about going to Ursuline. I heard it right from his mouth. Whether or not he's changed his mind or just blowin smoke remains to be seen.
One things for sure, Campbell Memorial won't cease to exist without Mr. Phillips.
If he stays, that's great...if not, I won't shed a tear.

im going to refrain from trashing these kids...especially on speculation. from everything im hearing...these kids want to stay and win here.

"my cousin made my profile, and he goes to ursuline... but im goin 2 campbell!!!!!" direct quote. thats good enough for me. i think we need to ease up on the kid hes a red devil. lets not forget were dealing with 13 year old boys...theyre getting attention from other schools and its probably blowing up their heads a little. but from what ive seen hes staying....multiple people close to the situation say hes staying. lets move on to other matters. thats what these catholic schools want us to do right now, they want us to turn our backs on these kids because we think theyre leaving and they trying swooping in. we need to keep showing these kids we appreciate them and want them here. we have to do something different than what weve been doing...

If anything I said was looked upon as trashing, I apologize. My only points were he'll never start at QB there and whether he stays or goes Campbell will carry on with or without him. I for one hope he stays I like him.

For the record, I doubt ANYONE would start over Durkin while he's there.
