I know it's early but does anyone have any predictions on the next season?

Looks like Hillsdale, Rittman, and Northwestern should be the front runners this year barring any injuries..........

My top 2 teams are Rittman and Norwayne.... Rittman loses only 1 key player in Vanderhoof and return the best pitcher/hitter in the area in Lance Horner. Add Bauman's bat and Beery's fielding into the mix and you have a team that is stacked. I know its early but my pick is Rittman, not only to win the county but to make some serious noise come playoff time

Man ...you are so right.....Forgot about Norwayne.too....Now that i'm thinkin this league should be really fun to watch this year....A lot of good players comin back and comin up..Horner is Def the best pitcher comin back (that is if they don't throw the kids arm out like last year)....Who are some of the best Hitters?...Rittman's Bauman/Horner....Norwayne..Strickler/Zimmerly.......Hillsdale..Fulk/?.........Chippewa....Shickler(spelling?)/?........Northwestern...Neer/?.........Waynedale...?....Dalton...?...Smithville..?.............I'll try to find out how to fill those ? marks, but your absolutely right about Rittman and Norwayne...You Def can't count Hillsdale and Northwestern out though...Should be fun!

I'm thinking Norwayne should be good this year. Northwestern lost a lot of good, experienced kids, but they'll reload under their coach. Rittman has a few good kids, but I just don't see them winning the league... but they'll be up there. Hillsdale will be good, again, but not as good as years past, IMO. Those 4 will be in the top half, IMO, and could end up finishing in any order. My prediction, however, is 1) Norwayne, 2) Hillsdale, 3) Rittman, 4) Northwestern.
Also on another note, I hear that Northwestern grad Blake Bellman will be transferring to Kent State (from Cincinnati) to play baseball. What makes this cool is that Sawyer Polen will be playing for Kent State next year, too, so the two Wayne County stars will be on the same team. I hope they both can have successful careers there! Polen still has another year to go in high school, though, so that can wait.

I coached a 14U travel ball team last year and will continue with the 15U team this summer with 5 kids from Norwayne, 2 from Dalton, 2 from Waynedale, 1 from Hillsdale, and 1 from Walsh. Let me tell you, after watching and coaching these boys for the past 2 years, these boys know how to play some baseball and will be freshman this season. Norwayne and Dalton will be getting some very good young talent, and Hillsdale may be getting the best pitcher they have seen in a long time with tons of potential. I look for most of them to be playing JV this season, with I know 2 for a fact that will be on varsity.
WCAL has some good things to be looking for the next 4 years.

Sounds like there is some talent in the league this year. Any team capable of a deep tournament run?

I still think Norwayne will be dangerous. However, the teams that play at Norwayne for the tournament will have to get past Canton Central Catholic and Triway. Hillsdale still has some good players as well as Northwestern, the usuals.

I saw the spring preview was in the daily record today. A lot of games scheduled for tomorrow. Any chance they are played?

The weather is calling for sun and a high of 36° why wouldn't they play?

Orrville beats Dalton 11-1, could be long season for the Bulldogs.

If what I saw in our scrimmage against them was any indication, I am in agreement... it could be a long season.

yea, most of the bulldog athletes are out for track. Seems to be hard for a school the size of dalton to be good in track and baseball the same season very often (they should be pretty good in track)

Dalton is very thin in baseball talent in grades grades 10,11, and 12 but I am hoping by the end of the season Berg will have a few of the freshman playing up to get as much varsity experience as possible and build for the future. Dalton is going to be pretty good in the next 5-7 years.....a lot of the kids grades 7-9 have been playing travel ball since 4th/5th grade against the best competition across the state of Ohio.
As for you ridernation.....lol not a chance, not many people are fond of Orrville, you know that haha

We have met Indian Valley to start league play (and open the season) the last 3 years, and it hasn't gone well for us. Ugh. I guess it doesn't help when we're always in the district championship for basketball, and IV rarely gets out of the sectional. Haha! Early-season match-ups between league favorites can be fun, but it can also be bad timing.

Any prediction on when These teams will get to play again? Snow still on ground, rain next week. This is not a good way to start the season

Anyone know if Northwestern is fielding a freshman team this year? That group of kids is very talented. Most of the Dalton 9th graders must not have played in the Wayne/Holmes Summer Baseball League over the past two years.
