Collaros is a career backup at a little brother school. Pryor is finishing up his 2nd year starting for big brother.

career backup? I think you have the definition of career wrong. he's a redshirt sophomore who backs up a QB that is a lock to be an NFL draft pick. Using your logic is Pryor also a better QB than Case Keenum because he doesn't start for OSU?

He has started 4 games in 3 years in the program. At this point, he is career back up. If Keenum were the bench warmer at Houston, you might have a point.

You are implying that being a backup precludes a person from having the skills necessary to perform at a high level when in fact it doesn't. When his opportunity came Collaros clearly out performed Pryor in very clear and quantifiable ways. Collaros has a higher completion percentage, yards per attempt, QB rating, TD to interception ratio, yards per completion and passing yards per game. Pryor has what it takes to be a good QB at the college level, I just have less faith in his ability to live up to his colossal potential now than I did in August.

Cassel played at a big time football program known for producing NFL talent. There is your difference.

Did you just compare Cinci to USC? Cassel was behind two heisman trophy winning quarterbacks and was clearly an aberation.

So only big time football programs are capable of producing NFL talent? I think guys like Favre, Roethlisberger, Flacco, and Warner would have something to say about that.

Plenty of NFL talent comes from smaller programs. It's rare that someone will not get off the bench in college, but then go on to star in the NFL. (I can only think of one example ever, but there might be more.)

1. Yes I'm saying that starters are generally more talented than back-ups. I just assumed that was self explanatory. My bad.
2. Collaros played against 4 pathetic defenses. He also has a more offensive minded coach.

Comparing apples to oranges here folks! Saddle Collaros (or Pike) with the Tressel Ball philosophy, and neither is a blip on the radar screen. Tressel Ball does not emphasize the QB. It is just another position on the offense, like Center or Tight End.
