I want to lock a cell so that the only data that can be entered into the cell is of dollar or date value. For instance, I want users to be able to enter " $11.61 " or " $900,200.99, " but not " cat " or " book."

Same thing for date fields... I want users to be able to input " 03/12/2001, " but not " March " or " scrabble. "

I've found out how to lock cells, but I don't want to lock it so that the next user can't input any information. I just want to lock it so that their input values are limited.

Thanks

Thank you. That did the trick. In 2007, Data --> Data Validation (for those also interested)

OT, but I am getting a new laptop for work and IT guy calls me and asks me what software I need ect. Anyway, I ask him what version of office he is giving me and he says 2003. I upgraded from 2003 to 2007 on my current laptop, why woudln't they give everyone the new version. SMH

Most people would actually prefer 2003 over 2007. There's some mad hate for that new interface.

2010 works better than 2007; I was pissed w/ the ribbon in 07 (longtime 03 user) but am used to it in 2010 now, plus they worked out some bugs.

I use 2007 and have no issues with it. If I really can't find something, I just use the help.

Microsoft created 2010 because 2007 had patent issue violations, plus it fixed the bugs in 2007. 2010 blows 2007 away! But then again... it empties your wallet too.

Just like how Microsoft created Windows 7 because of all the Vista issues and bugs.

I'm indifferent between the two. 2010 is OK.

I've been using 2003 on my PC and 2008 for my MAC. I really don't like 2008 for the MAC, its goofy.

2003 is unusable for me because of the row limit. That is the primary reason 2007 and 2010 are far superior.
