Thinking about going to Boston this summer. Never been there, so I was looking for some things I could do. Fenway Park and a Sox game (even though I hate them) are already on the list.

If you've been there, give me some other ideas of what I could do in the city.

Freedom Walk...sounds kinda lame until you actually do it. You pass like 6 great pubs along the way as a bonus!

Plenty of things to do. Freedom trail is nice and everyone should probably do that once - that will bring you to the Old North Church, the USS Constitution, Paul Revere's house, etc. Go to the North End for Italian food (and go to Modern Pastry for your cannoli). Walk Newbury Street if you're into shopping (or you're bringing the sig other). Great restaurants are in the South End as well, newer more contemporary stuff. Send me a PM if you need any suggestions on where to stay/what else to do (if you can get out of the city, the Cape is fun).

where is modern pastry to relation to mikes pastry? i am mikes pastry fan my self but would try something new. my personal advice find a fly in and take the "T" anywhere or drive in and stay on the outskirts of town.

take the boston harbor tour, you can find ones that are free.
Tour iron sides, the USS constitution.
Eat at cheers.
Take a tour of Harvard by one of the students. always a good time.
Go eat at Legal seafood and Regina's pizza is very good.

If you're walking toward the harbor on Hanover (the main street through the North End) Modern is on the left hand side, closer to downtown than Mike's. Mike's is popular, especially for tourists - but after living in the North End I can say that Modern is more popular with the locals.

I like Legal Seafood too, but I really like going to The Barking Crab when in Boston. Where is Regina's Pizza? I have never had it. Last time in Boston we went to The Publick House to eat. We really liked it and it was on one of those greatest places to pig out shows. If you go to a Red Sox game go to Boston Beer Works. Unfortunately when we go it is with kids so we usually go to the Children's Museum or Aquarium or the Duck Tours.

I am sure the Boston locals are better with suggestions, but I was up there on business a few months ago, and had a great time in the Back Bay neighborhood, lots of bars and restaurants. Fenway is a must, best ballpark that I have visited, with a great party scene before and after in the Fenway neighborhood. Maybe swing over to Cambridge and drink with the brainy MIT and Harvard kids ...

Regina (the original Regina) is on Thatcher St in the North End. Best pizza ever. Publick House is awesome, great Belgian selection and their fries w/ mayo are great.

Back Bay is cool, that's where Newbury St (referenced earlier) is. Fenway is great; Boston Beer Works is fun, as referenced before, but also try to go to the Bleacher Bar - it's underneath the outfield bleacher seats. If you go over to Cambridge for a drink, check out Grendel's Den (right next to Harvard) and if you're into Tex-Mex, head over to Border Cafe (also next to Harvard).

Regina's are mostly in malls. We stayed in Burlington and it was in the mall there but my understanding there are several locations.
We stayed at the staybridge suits and took the train in.
much cheaper

There also is a burger place near Harvard, just can't remember the name, voted best in the city.
