My question to the Chatter is: Which area should we go to, and which places out of those two areas do you prefer? Or do you have a better idea?
Also, I'd like to get him something small, but funny. Anyone have any ideas of funny/cool gifts?! I want it to obviously be a "bachelor's" type gift, yet something not TOO stereotypical.
Thanks
I live in the warehouse district and although I go out on W. 6th more often, East 4th is fun to go out on after Cavs games and there's usually a fair amount of people down there. Maybe not as much anymore since Lebron left. Haven't been to a Cavs game yet so I'm not sure what the attendance has been like. It's supposed to be a nice night saturday so Velvet Dog on W. 6th will probably have the rooftop bar open and that's kind of cool.
Since it will be a nice night, if I were you, after the Cavs game I'd go out on East 4th right after the game. Then, since it will be nice out, it's really not a long walk from there, through public square over towards the warehouse district. If you're looking for hot women, there's a fair amount of hot chicks on W. 6th most saturday nights. Probably will hold true this weekend as, again, it's supposed to be nice.
Once I got to west 6th, if I were you, I'd go to Velvet Dog, Barley House, Blind Pig, Suite Sixx and then, towards the end of the night people tend to go to Dive Bar. Those places are cool enough and will have their share of douche but they're not like Jersey Shore crazy or anything.
Since it's a bachelor party, I would try to hop on the Christie's bus which drives back and forth from W. 6th to Christies throughout the night. It's free.
And, once I got in the flats, I'd have them drop you off at McCarthy's and/or Harbor Inn which are right across from eachother and on the way to Christie's. Harbor Inn has pretty cheap beer and is kind of a hole in the wall but in a good way. I used to live above McCarthy's and a fair amount of the strippers from Christie's go there and Harbor Inn before and after their "shifts."
From there, Christie's is a short walk and its open til 4 am but stops serving booze at 2:30. Try not to look too belligerent when you're heading in if it's after midnight because they'll refuse to let you in.
There's also an adultmart on west 9th, the street over from w. 6th, if you happen to find any strippers privy to a good time. Or, you could get your buddy his bachelor's gift there.
Oh yeah; if you're looking to hear a live band, blind pig will have one. Velvet Dog will play contemporary club/pop music, same with Barley House. Dive Bar will mix in 80s classics with modern music. Barley House has waitresses in little school girl outfits.
As far as beer prices go...the worst of all those places is Velvet Dog. The other ones you can get Bud lite and Miller lite for under $5. At Dive Bar you can get any draft you want, including Great Lakes Xmas Ale for $2.00 until sometime between 9-11. Sadly I'm normally buzzed enough that I can't honestly say what time that deal ends.
