Cleveland got lucky in the fact that they played the Saints and Patriots the week before these teams play Pittsburgh. It's safe to say that they overlooked Cleveland, I mean how the hell can you get up playing the Clowns. Keep it real Cleveland fans.

10 throws, right on the money?

I highly doubt if you look at the box score you'll see 10 dropped passes. That's a lot.

Brady's receivers did drop a few, but I don't remember ANY throws that were "right on the money" that were dropped.

Tate and the tight end Gronkowski had a bunch in their hands that they let go.

I agree Brady was off as well, more inaccurate than usual, but his young receivers missed a lot of catchable passes.

A lot of Brady's yards came with the Patriots trailing 24-7. The Browns secondary made big plays after big play though. A big chunk of his yards came on screens though.

The Pats didn't have the run because they had to abandon it due to the score , lol..
The fumble right before halftime changed the complexion of the game. I give the Browns credit on that one for wrestling the ball away but if they go in there it's a different game.

Brees put up a lot of yards, despite the interceptions. Ben threw for 257 with most of them coming in the second half. The Steelers ran a lot early because it was Ben's first game. Flacco had success going to Boldin.

The Browns have played hard and done some nice things but their defense still has a long way to go to be a great consistent defense. You'll see them get picked apart by some quarterbacks as the season moves on.

Remember the Browns finished strong last year and you were all pumped up for this season, thinking they would be an 8-8 or 9-7 team, with the Steelers fading back.

Even with two great performances the past two games, the Browns are 3-5 after eight games. Way back in the playoff race.

Steelers are in prime position.

That's the facts, Jack.

You can't deny the Browns two victories in the previous two games but David Bowens likely won't score 2 TDs and Hillis won't likely rush for close to 200 yards against the Jets. I think it will be an ugly, close game but the matchups favor the Jets.

I do think it will be a close game, but I also believe Sanchez has a couple TOs, not sure if its picks or fumbles, but he coughs it up twice. That will be the difference, the Browns win by less than 7.

This is the NFL. Teams dont "overlook" other teams. You really dont think BB said a thing to his squad about the Browns stomping the Saints 2 weeks ago and not to take them lightly??

Just watching the game (not factual) I bet over 100 of those yards and 1 TD came late in the 4th in garbage time when Ryan was blitzing less and using soft coverages to make NE eat clock to score.

I'd be surprised if Brady had 150 yards near the end of the 3rd Q.

If the Browns can beat the Jets, they are actually in good position for an 8-8 season w/ the next 5 games being against Carolina, Jacksonville, Buffalo, Cincy and the Dolphins(I know that's not the correct order). Also, they get Pitt & Baltimore @ home to end the season. Going 4-3 over the last 7 is certainly a possibility. I think this is the most critical game of the season for the Browns.

You clearly didn't watch the game if you would say the "young receivers dropped a lot of catchable passes" over "tom brady was not on his game"

Just because it hit their hands doesn't mean they were drops.

I don't really think this post has anything to do with what is being talked about in this thread, but i'll acknowledge it anyways.

You bring up their record vs. the Steelers record (why??) even though it has nothing to do with anything. No one is saying we're gonna win the Super Bowl, I think the general consensus is we can make it to 8-8.

Also, what does last year's late games have anything to do wtih this year? Was Hillis on that team? Was McCoy? Was Watson? Was Bell? Was Wallace? Was half of the defensive players?

This should end this whole discussion about dropped passes pretty quick.

"Brady overthrew a target seven times (3.0 average through seven games), had four passes defensed by Cleveland (2.9 average), underthrew three targets (1.9 average), had two dropped (2.6 average) and threw one away (0.7 average)."

You're right about that. If they can beat the Jets this week then they are kind of back in it. 4-5 and then some easier games, there is a chance they could still compete for a wild card.

If they lose this one and go to 3-6 then it will be too much of an uphill climb.

It would take at least 10-6.

I guess 8-8 or 9-7 would be an encouraging season but when next season starts they could have a whole new set of problems. A lot of people thought they would carry their momentum from late in the season last year into this year. So you can't really go by that theory, if they finish strong the rest of the way they'll be ready to challenge for the division next year.

I watched it. Brady was off early on but as the game went on he was putting the ball on his receivers.

I would say there were some drops and some that were a little off but still could've been caught. A few borderline, I think we saw the same game.

Last year's late games are a good example of Browns fans getting overly excited before the team establishes itself as a consistent winner.

If you go back to a lot of the offseason discussion a lot of these same posters were saying that the Steelers wouldn't be that good anymore and the Browns were coming on after a strong finish.

Then a rough start this year and the Browns are only 3-5, despite two good wins.

Keep it in perspective.

Browns wont compete for the Wild-Card, because the AFC is too tough, and 8-8 just aint gonna cut it (and 8-8 is still a LONG way away).

However, it is refreshing to finally go into games and expect to compete and with a solid gameplan and execution actually expect to pull out a W. I dont know why, because the Browns blew the games early on this year, but going into the games versus the Saints AND the Pats, I felt pretty good. Against the Jets the confidence is even higher. I think if they played this game 10 times, it might be 5-5. Thats as confident in a Browns squad as I have been in a long time, and its fun.

I realize Cleveland aint winning anything, but it is still more fun about possibly ending the season .500 at this point in the year and looking ahead to Sundays match-ups than it is to be talking draft spot and watching Saturdays more intently because you are scouting for your team.

Those numbers are so questionable as to what is considered a catchable pass or not. I don't put much stock into that at all.

To be fair, because I was one of them, I expected the Steelers to have at least 4 and maybe 5 loses after their first 6 games. This was before Ben had the suspension reduced obviously.

So what do you put stock in?

Those numbers are from ESPN Stats & Information. They chart things like this every game. I'd say they know what is usually considered a catchable pass and what isn't.

A) The Steelers have no relevance to this thread

B) I don't think any Browns fans had them realistically doing better than 8-8 or 9-7. Which they have a very plausible chance to achieve.

Was the Browns optimism after the end of last year ill-conceived if they do in fact finish 8-8?? It's obviously too early to tell if the optimism was warranted or not. It seems that you only come on these threads to interject something Pittsburgh related.

I am excited about this Browns team, but this playoff talk is crazy. You cannot blow two games(or 3) and expect to get the wildcard in the AFC. If they would have taken care of business against TB and KC, then it would be a different story.
