After the Stanford game.....I would have agreed with that as that was my thinking. After the last several games......I'm not so sure.

ND wins, 31-27. BK catches Utah at the perfect time and pulls off the upset.

Despite the injuries, BK still has an advantage in overall talent.

Just confirmed that Portland, Ore., DE Brennan Scarlett will be in South Bend on an official visit this weekend.

I saw that and love it. Kelly isn't wasting any time trying to replace Lynch. Scarlett is a gamer, he has a nice offer list. Oklahoma, Nebraska, USC, LSU, Oregon, Stanford.

Also interesting, Manti Te'o was named as one of the sixteen finalists for the Bednarik Award, and one of only three linebackers. A solid chance Te'o is a 1st-team All-American as a sophomore? Luke Kuechly and Greg Jones were the others named, with Greg Jones being a guaranteed All-American.

Seven of the nine games Utah has played have been against teams ranked 94th to 120th in rushing defense.

Six of nine Utah opponents are ranked 61st to 96th in passing defense.

The three games that were close for the Utes were:
Pittsburgh (win by 3 in OT, #8 in rushing defense, #45 in pass def)
Air Force (win by 5, #109 rushing defense, #7 pass def)
TCU (loss by 40, #7 rushing defense, #1 pass def)
Snagged that from another site, the fellow has a point. But I don't think this comes down to Notre Dame's defense, they have played well in 8/9 games and will definitely show up. The huge question mark is how well does Notre Dame's JV offense do against Utah's defense? I have liked Brian Kelly's offensive schemes all season long for the most part, but if Notre Dame musters four touchdowns it would be a borderline miracle.

I can see Notre Dame's defense holding Utah to <30, but I can't see Notre Dame scoring points. Something like 31-16 Utah sounds about right in my opinion.

What's crazy is that I have read all of the recent OSU threads and you haven't posted on any of them, but I'll be damned if you ever miss an ND thread. Why is that?

Everyone should be available for ND except Riddick. He practiced yesterday for the first time since getting out of the cast/walking boot.

I figured someone would say something like that. You don't think #9 could help the team at all?

Rudolph would be an asset...IF he's at 100%. But that's a big if. It would be great to have that extra weapon for Rees.

The offense is going to have to minimize mistakes if ND wants any chance of winning this one. And from what I've seen from Rees, I don't know how successful they will be at doing that. Having Rudolph back would help because Rees wouldn't have to try to force the ball to Floyd every play.

hahah! He's been gone for so long I completely forgot about him. A great TE is a wonderful asset to a new quarterback, he'd be of tremendous use. However Eifert has filled in with little lag in my opinion, he's probably an equal overall receiver.

I actually loved the way Rees played and didn't think he forced things nearly as much as Crist did. I actually saw him turn his freakin' head and not just stare down whomever or wherever he was going to throw the ball. The interception that went for a touchdown was just bad luck, beautiful play and a great call on Kelly's part. The second interception though was a rookie error, he cannot do that against Utah.

I thought Rees' biggest problem was arm strength. Crist has a cannon, Rees has a 9mm as of now.

The rumor mill is stating Crist is going to transfer to a D2 school for a year and return to a pro-style offense before transferring back to FCS for his remaining year of eligibility. I doubt it's true, but it wouldn't surprise me at all. Hendrix, unless he's considerably worse than Crist, needs to be the starter in 2011 in my opinion.

I was wondering the same thing, although I agree that Crist will probably never start for ND again whether at ND or not.

They got the ball around the 48 yard line after ND went for it on 4th down. Defense holds Utah to a long FG.

I can't believe that a 12-year old was able to get into ND. Impressive.

Rees needs to calm down a little bit. Offense looks not good.

Maybe that will get him going. Great coverage and INT by Harrison Smith. Probably the first time in his ND career that can be said.
