In honor of the NY Marathon due to go off this weekend.............

If you have done one...go ahead and post it here......

for me, it was one of those "scratch it off the bucket list" kind of things...

...Chicago, 2001....a relatively slow 4:19....i admit i was undertrained.......I came into 13 miles at 1:39 and planned on breaking 4:00. Unfortunately the last 6 miles was a constant cramp.
of.
every.
muscle.

I have got way too old, way too arthritic, and way too fat to do one again, although......a Half......maybe.....

Ran five of them back in the day. PR of 2:49:47 in the inaugural Columbus Marathon in 1980. That hurt.

Have run 5; including the marine corps in DC last weekend. After every one I've said never again, but still continue to do them.

I have run multiple marathons...a handful of Ultra-marathons including the JFK 50 Mile.

I am not a big fan of the traditional big city street marathon. I do like the speed element of the half marathon but I prefer the trail 50K race the best.

Did Flying Pig in Cincy in spring '06, then Columbus in fall '06, then Boston in spring '07, and then Flying Pig again a few weeks later for fun. Haven't done any since, my preferred racing distance nowadays is the half-marathon.

I did Columbus in 90 and 91. That's too far for me. Plus now I'm fat, old and lazy. My mom wanted to walk it a few years ago, so I did walk it one more time. (Not sure what year that was)

18 is the farthest I've ever ran at a time. It was just a high school long run type of thing. We blitzed the last mile thought, it was like 5:20 if I remember correctly.

Our high school coach won the Cleveland Marathon back in '86.

Finished a marathon in college. Was on sub 3 hour pace until a lil after mile 22. The last 4 sucked bad.
