Have family read that 1984 article....sooooo much talent on that team. Bolyard, Leeder, Denson, Tom Moore. That was supposed to be THE year. People still talk about that game.

I still think if we would have run to the middle or left, we would have set up Bolyard for the field goal. Instead we went right and so with the strong wind blowing left to right and him kicking from the right hash his kick stayed right, or we could have been back to Columbus.

I remember it well.....slowly I turn, step by step.....

(BTW, Bolyard was playing with a concussion late in the game and did not even recall kicking the ball)

Well, I wish I would've been alive for that game...haha! Too bad I wasn't even planned yet!

That was then, and this is NOW!

I sure hope we stick with the mentality that "our athletes are better than your athletes" because when we play like that we are pretty darn good. If we sit back and let them control the tempo (for example look back to the Ashland game) we don't look so good.

I hope we play man up and get very physical with their WR's....This helps in 2 ways:

1. Makes the Reciever work harder to get open.
2. Gives us more time to get pressure on the QB.

We are better when we play like this on defense, period! If we sit back and line up 10 yards away from the reciever (like Ashland game) it will be a long long night. EC will just throw quick underneath stuff on us all night.....make them work for what they get and don't give up the free stuff.

This type of game will be to the Riders' liking. The fast pace will enable us to do what we do best athletically, which is flying all over the field. At the same time we will play very physically, delivering the big hits that have become our trademark. EC may have played some very athletic teams, but were they both athletic AND football wise? In other words, our kids have played in the spotlight many, many times- they are extremely battle-tested! Mental toughness goes a long way at this stage of the season.

I want to know how this QB will respond after he takes a nice hard lick from one of the Riders....Won't know that though until friday night!

Everyone keeps saying he is so poised, and as poised as they come....well how poised will he be if he has to get up from the ground every play?

I like the fact that of the top 6 Yardage QB's in the entire state of Ohio in any division, this year we have played 1 of them twice and another one once. We will test our knowledge learned Friday as we play yet another in that top 6 list. That means as of Friday night we will have faced 3 of the top 6 passing QB's in the entire state and one of them twice!

Based on the past few games the EC quarterback will pick himself up after those hits, walk to the huddle 15 yards down the field and call the next play. Amirite?

this was just posted on jj from an EC fan......Can't help but notice how dirty Orrville looks in the film I have seen on them. I think they talk more S*&% than their huddlers.

I distinctly remember their coach Mo Tipton and their stud Tom Bolyard with the same type of cockiness in 1984.

I'm not much of a talker but can't help noticing the lack of class and sportsmanship this school has shown in the last 30 years.

things should get heated up a bit now!

Wish we had some sportsmanship like EC so our varsity coaches could scout 8th graders from the area and make them a nice little package here!

Well said.

Funny being lectured about class & lack of sportsmanship from a fan (I assume) of a parochial school. Pot meet kettle.

They are having a game preview coming soon, so we'll have to check back later.

Yes I am aware of that. I have an old friend who played on the 83 and 84 teams.

I also drive by the sign in front of the school maybe 3 to 4 times a month reminding me of their championships.

Don't get baited here Riders let what happens on the field do your talking.

Play with intensity but know where the line is drawn and don't cross it.

Know what it takes to win play off games, and execute. Remember what can lose those games too and avoid doing those things

For more inspiring pre game talks, contact me via PM and we can discuss my fee schedule
