I took it about 8 years ago. It wasn't bad at all. What was your undergrad major?

Sports mgmt.
Will be attending the MSA/MBA program at OU if I get a certain score on this GMAT.

Took it 2 and half weeks ago. I didn't think it was that bad and I got a good score, but I studied practically the whole summer. I had a non-business degree so I had to brush up on my math. I found this site very helpful beatthegmat.com. There are a lot of good tips there.
Also, not sure how you have studied, but if you studied off the official gmat guide book (12th ed), then the questions are pretty much just like the real exam. If you haven't done so already I suggest downloading the free test-prep software on mba.com. The test prep is pretty much identical to the real test, and the score you get on that will be a good indicator of the score you will get on the real test.

Pretty much the best advice you could get. The Math isn't hard but to me it was more of the math learned in high school as opposed to statistics and accounting learned in college so I needed a refresher. The reading/grammar section is pretty much the typical standardized test format. A lot of people say don't waste your time with the writing section which doesn't go towards your GMAT score but I've heard that it may be used as a tie breaker for admission if you are looking into a competitive program.

Let me know if you have any questions about the program, I'm starting in June of 2011.

I have a question actually. How many people in this program end up working at McDonald's?
Seriously, what a freaking joke.

took it back in like 95, I am sure it is way different now. I bought the study book back then and did pretty good. I got accepted to every school I applied to including Northwestern.

I took it two years ago. The math is difficult if you aren't used to algebra, geometry and some trig things. The Verbal seemed easier. I also heard not to waste too much time on the writing, as it doesn't really go into your score. That said, the only thing I did to study was do the 2 practice tests included when you sign up for it and got in the low 600s. It really isn't that hard, especially if you are good at standardized tests.

I took this back in 2006. Easy. Didn't study a lick and I didn't even have a business background (pharmaceutical science major). Like I said in a GRE thread, if you have to study for a test to get into a Master's program, you shouldn't consider yourself competent enough to even deserve a Masters. Doctorate is a different stroy. Those entrance tests are actually quite challenging...

If your goal is simply to be accepted somewhere, then sure, you shouldn't have to study. If your goal is to go to a, you know, good school with good employment prospects, then you do yourself a disservice by not studying and maximizing your score. Look at the salary differentials between someone going to, e.g., to Wharton or Kellogg for their MBA as opposed to BFE State U. If your goal is to give up 2 years of your life and tens of thousands of dollars in tuition and not earn a good return on your investment, that's your call. But if you're getting a degree in business to do something crazy like run businesses and make money, you're best off doing some research, studying for the GMAT, getting into the best school you can, and maximizing the return on your investment.

Why the need to be a dick to someone based on their career path or school of choice? I'll never understand that.

It's not like it's out of character of the two who made the comments.
Anyone pursuing a higher level of education is to be commended in my book.
I plan on taking the GMAT here soon, but I need to start studying a little. I usually do well on standardized tests, but it's been awhile since I've been in the test taking mode.

OU in general, maybe. But OU has several schools within the university that are amongst the top in the country. I didn't expect you to know that, though. Don't even know why I'm responding to you.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure the sports management and journalism schools are some of the best in the country.
