Me and the wife picked up a pizza from Tommy's Pizza tonight. Half way through the first slice I realized something wasn't right. The slice had NO tomato sauce on it. Neither did hers. We called them and asked why. The guy said if you want tomato sauce on your pizza you have to ask for it. What? Seriously, that was the answer given. What a joke!

Ummmm... I would take that pizza back, demand a new one, and demand your money back too for the inconvenience.

It was probably a mistake.

There is such a thing called "white pizza." Had a guy down the hall from me in college that was allergic to tomatoes. He had to order white pizzas all the time.

White pizza typically contains a garlic butter sauce in place of tomato sauce.

I'm sure it was. I don't understand(other than allergies) why anyone would want pizza with no sauce...

Just checked with my wife who grew up in the pizza business. Her family still owns numerous pizza shops. White pizza can also contain Alfredo sauce depending on the particular shop.

I've had pizzas without tomato sauce, but never had one without sauce at all. So, all they gave you was the crust and toppings? What kind of pizza crap is that?

My grandmother, who was born in Italy and lived there for the first 30 years of her life, used to make me white pizza all the time when I was little. It is better than almost any pizza I've had since.

Also, travel to Youngstown, order a white pizza from Belleria or Cornersburg. Its better than any pizza I've ever had in Cincinnati, Columbus, or Cleveland.

Side note: there are more pizza places per capita in the state of Ohio than anywhere else in the world.

White pizza is great.

No sauce is fucked up. My best friend has had problems with acid reflux or whatever and, when it was bad, ordered pizza with light sauce (which is good with some places that can go heavier than I'd like with their pizzas from time to time), but the concept of NO SAUCE...insane. I would, at the least, make sure the owner (or highest-ranking guy you can talk to) of that place knows what happened. I've never heard of sauce being a "request only" item, so I'm guessing you'd be in line for a free meal or two from them.

It's been difficult to find a pizza that has a enough sauce on it for my liking.

You almost can't have enough sauce in my opinion.
