But why?

The offense. They are a true no huddle team. None of this line up, deflate the play clock stuff. They run a play before I can get another beer opened.

They do unorthadox special teams stuff all the time, onside, fake extra points, throwback punt/kick returns.

They consider going for 2 all the time.

Autzen Stadium. Unique venue that gets loud.

Nike. This includes team and cheerleader uniforms. So many styles and patterns, not to mention the cheerleaders skirts are so short.

The Duck. He's everywhere, always doing push ups.

Lack of TV time here in Ohio. The fact that we rarely get their games here makes them even more interesting.

The band. Always jammin' to something unique or hip.

Oregon tradition. Not sure there is any but I don't care.

They wouldn't win a game in the Big Ten.

Interesting? Yes.
Gimmicky? Yes.
Able to win the championship? I doubt it.

I really hope Auburn/Oregon aren't in the NC game together. The final score would be 80-79.

Still, one of these games their offense isn't going to "click" and they'll lose. My bet is against Oregon State.

I love watching them play, and their mascot's awesome--and who wouldn't love LaMichael James wearing their team's uni?

Their mascot is probably the best in the country. After finishing his last pushups of the night last night he kicked his feet up relaxed on a reclining beach chair on the sidelines. Oregon definitley does a good job promoting itself and brings entertainment value.

Huh? The Pac-10 is the 2nd or 3rd best conference in the country. Oregon, Oregon St, Arizona, Stanford are all great teams, while USC, Washington, and ASU aren't bad.

Oregon, Arizona and Stanford are the best Pac 10 teams. Those other teams are crap and Arizona is a stretch they just eeeked by an awesome UCLA team. Not to mention I think Oregon and Ariz are the only ones ranked pretty sweet conference eh?

Why do you say that they're gimmicky? I mean, back in the day, "passing" was gimmicky, too. And running out of the 'gun. I'm not sure that arbitraging innovation is "gimmicky."

I agree that the Pac 10 is a solid conference this year. But Oregon State is nowhere close to being a "great team". They are OK, but far, far away from being great. They are a 20-25 team at best. I also wouldn't consider Arizona or Stanford Great, just very good.
The Pac 10 is solid, and I'd have it as the 2nd or 3rd best conference this year due to it's depth, but Oregon is the only great team in the conference. The rest of the teams are just average to good (except for Cal, UCLA & WSU who pretty much blow)...

Before watching Saturdays game o thought Boise was honestly the best team in the country but I now think Oregon takes that spot. They are just unbelievable to watch I would love for a Boise Oregon national title game it would be a very interesting game

You do realize both these teams have struggled against solid defenses -- when they've actually had to face one -- right?

I never cease to be amazed at how taken in people (and the media) are by glitzy offenses.

Seems to me I was hearing very similar things about Oregon last year, and we know how that turned out.

I want to see them play a very good defense before anointing them (or anyone else) the title as best team.

Everything about their offense can be stopped with a good defense.

And no, they haven't played one yet.

The same thing was said about Michigan after they started 5-0.

"OH GOD THEY HAVE AN AWESOME OFFENSE. THEY ARE FINALLY FOR REAL!!!!!!!!!!"

And then today they had to score 67 points to beat a bad Illinois team.

Oregon will get what's coming to them. I'll bet they lose to Oregon State. They're overdue for a loss to a mediocre team.

If they do win out, I'll bet they get plastered in the title game.

I had a hard time reading this thread after I saw that somebody posted "the Pac-10 is down this year". I would ask this person if they think the Pac-10 is "down", who exactly is up?
