He has the weapons to do some damage as well. Davis, Gore, and in particular Michael Crabtree who appears to be really blossoming into a #1 WR.

Took Crabtree long enough to get there but it appears he may finally be that guy.

It really seems that way, but in reality (I just realized this myself) he is only playing in what is essentially the end of his rookie year. He held out last year, and thus right now would be right about at the start of his second year game wise. I understand he has had practice and such, so it is not quite the same. But he is younger than most realize in terms of experience.

Gerb, dunno what you're talking about, Crabtree was pretty sick last year once he got a decent grip on the playbook.

Yea I guess your right he did have a good end to his rookie season. Although I think he only has 6 td's total just thought he would/should have more.

Troy had not one....not 2....not 3....but 4 touchdown passes called back on Sunday. And yet, the Niners rallied behind Smith to win the game in OT.

Nice to see Ginn and Troy playing together once again. And....you'll never see the other Smith playing qb for the Niners again.

Again....the straw grasping is quite hilarious as they get more and more out of reach.

BTW, the 49ers play the 6-3 Buccaneers this week who are currently 8th in the NFL against the pass. I'm sure if Troy has another good game and the 49ers get the win, rock and tiernan will be on here talking about how they're garbage too. In fact the 1972 Dolphins would be a garbage team if Troy Smith was playing them.

and as for Tiernan and his cute little acronyms. Troy Smith isn't in the bottom 20 of Heisman winners.

I'm glad you are so knowledgeable about the inner workings of the Ohio State football team from 2002-2006. Your insider expertise has been a great asset to us all in these threads. What was AJ Hawk's favorite color? How about Antonio Pittman's Back to the Future movie of choice? Clearly a man with such knowledge of the feelings of the team should be able to easily answer these questions.

By the way, Troy Smith received 87 PERCENT of the first place votes for the Heisman, a record. Clearly a couple people didn't think he was the worst winner in history lol. Again, don't let the facts get in the way of your biased hate....it hasn't so far. I just hope you don't fail at life as much as you're failing on this thread.

Troy Smith was named the starter in Baltimore until he got sick and Flacco started and played good. If you read comments made by players like Ray Lewis they wanted Troy Smith as the starter and came out publically and said they thought he was the better player. They also only cut himbecause Troy asked to find somewhere else where he could have a better chance at getting playing time. Troy Smith is/was a great buckeye he didnt cost us any NC. If you go back and watch those games he wasnt the only person who had a bad game and if Zwick starts I dont think we even play for a title.

Troy may not be impressing some but he's impressing who he needs to as he'll be replacing Alex Smith as the starter this coming weekend.

Another interesting factual stat that drives people like knute and tiernan nuts:

Troy Smith had at least 60 yards passing to five different receivers against the Rams. That's the first time that's happened in 49ers franchise history. This is the same franchise that Joe Montana and Steve Young once played for (before knute tries to jump on this and put words in my mouth, I'm not comparing Troy Smith to either of those two).

Let that rattle in your brain for a second.

The only person who is hating on Troy is some dumbass ND fan who wouldn't know a good player if he slapped him on the face.

Other than that, some ignorant trolls/OSU haters.

Troy is going to be a very good QB. I thought he would be all along. His arm strength and accuracy are both well above average, as his decision making and mobility.

He was good in college and until he puts up those same numbers against some good NFL teams the jury is still out. Amazing that some "dumbass" OSU fans can't take the blinders off!

We are not saying he is Vick or Brady, just that it is good to see him having some success after he was in Baltimore. The jury is still out to see is he can sustain and lead the Niners. I think he can, and a coworker who is a Niners fan has turned into a huge Troy fan. He is not flashy, but so far is managing the offense.

What is so hard for you to get? He just put up 356 yards against a top 15 defense. A defense that is ranked 12th, which means it's better than half the league.

Is that too hard for you to grasp?

Is it also too hard to understand that even the worst NFL defenses can pose problems from starting QB's? This is the NFL, not college.

Some of you are saying that but you have others (mainly one) who's saying he's doing things that Montana and Young didn't do (even if he says it's not a comparison, it still is)........you kidding me? Lead your team to the playoffs and win a game and then I'll start to somewhat believe, until then Smith is another NFL flash in the pan.

If he puts up those numbers consistently, he'll be in the HOF!! :D I'd say 356 yards/gm for a career avg. would be amazing!!

What's funny is you and some other blinded Buckeye fans keep ignoring the FACT that St. Louis stinks! BTW, the 49ers remaining schedule is awful, the only good teams are the Buccaneers, the Packers and a semi-good Chargers team plus, their division, which sucks.

They're good for now. Once Troy and the 49ers actually play them, they'll be garbage according to you. Your act is old and tiring...
