Also, what ever happened to Merle I wonder?

My cousin, who also loves the show had an interesting observation: Maybe Merle loaded up the zombies on the truck and drove it up to the mountain to get revenge for leaving them? I'm not sure as we still have yet to see the truck or Merle.

Good point! I thought that originally but forgot about it. Now there's an opportunity for the virus to mutate! Then, they could become locked in there with him hunting them. Of course, there's already a movie about that (Resident Evil?) so don't imagine they go that direction. I think the scientist will be a key player. Either he will be pivotal to the ultimate conclusion of this story or he's going to help them identify where to go next with the comm he has (so if he got sick, they could still find out where to go next for help).

Interesting. He would have put his brother in harm's way but probably assumed his brother would survive. But I think that's something they would have shown us. They're creating a number of loose ends that I'd guess they may or may not circle back to. Although, I wonder how Merle got off the roof - especially with just one hand - because wasn't the stairwell the only access and wasn't it still chained? Plus, it had to be tough driving a stick shift with just your left hand!

Maybe the group goes back to get the guy left in the woods so they can have a fresh sample and in the process Andrea gets bit and they inject her with an experimental cure.....The best friend better hope Andrea pulls through the group is running out of ass for him to tag.

Interesting move? I thought the show was going well, will be interesting to see what happens next season with entirely new writers. Hopefully they don't muck it up.

Wow, that's crazy. You don't do something like that when you are putting something that good out there. Interesting move.

That was an intense final 10 minutes.
Really hammered the sense of hopelessness in a post-apocalyptic world.
Great finale.

What a way to end season 1.

Sucks that we have to wait about a year for Season 2.

Well done final episode. Isn't one of the creators or writers from The Shield? (another excellent show).

I wondered how they'd keep this going. Nicely done with the Doc whispering something in the cops ear. Obviously he told him something very important. Where to go, maybe. I think it probably was some sort of formula that was key to the research. I believe Atlanta is THE Center for Disease Control, so looks pretty hopeless. Personally, I like the idea of commandeering a cruise ship and sailing to France. Plenty of food and once you clear it of zombies it's as safe as you could get.

Was hoping for more answers tonight. Seemed realistic though. How it all started is probably ultimately irrelevant.

Man, a whole year! What a rip, only 6 episodes and now wait a year. Could lose steam fast though, unless they are going to make it like a scavenger hunt where they go from place to place getting a tip where to go next searching for hope.

I realize some people would give up and just choose death, but it's kind of unnerving to see people just fold like that.

I think the Dr whispered something to Rick about the blood tests and I think that it had something to do with the blonde chick (Andrea?)..

She was starting to feel sick and actually got sick a few times while in the CVC building.. She was all set to kill herself in the blast until the old guy ended up talking her out of it..

Perhaps she's got a new strain of the virus?

Who knows, but I'm willing to bet it's something major within the story.

I'm guessing he found the virus in her but she's relatively immune to it. She's the hope to finding a cure.

Was thinking that very thing while watching during the blood testing. He gave her a look, and she was by far the most reluctant to take the test (of what they showed). Then the throwing up, but appearing to be fine.

I think she is the main plot-line heading into season 2.

I'm just glad he finally used the grenade. I'm thinking the love triangle will come out next season. Also, I wonder where they are headed next. Could they possibly be going to the base where the deputy wanted to go?

I too think it had something to do with Andrea. Did you see Rick's face when he was done speaking? He looked shocked/horrified.

They had to mention France for a reason.... Unless it was for comedic relief in saying France were the last to surrender :D

But Id think they will draw it out. Something like head somewhere else but the whole season looking for ways to get across the ocean. Maybe they get there towards episode 10 or so next season.

Good points on what the Doc whispered. I missed it. Andrea having an immunity, or a new strain, makes a lot of sense as a plot device. Actually, that she's infected would explain the look of horror on the cop's face (I missed that).

Another very interesting thing I saw was the Doc said 3 hours was the longest they'd heard it take for the virus to wake someone. I had the feeling Andrea's sister was much longer than that, certainly more than 3 hours and probably at least 12. Also thought her sister appeared to be whispering or trying to talk when she woke and for a minute you thought maybe she wasn't dead and somehow wasn't infected.

I'm not sure andrea being immune makes sense since she was going to stay there to die. Wouldn't the doctor try to convince her to leave or even try to get out with them to continue the research. I think she is infected more so than she is immune.

Very true. You would think that this would have given the Dr the hope he needed to find the cure, instead he blew up everything.

Rick's reaction as the Dr was whispering into his ear was also of the "Oh shit" look... Though, I guess he could have that same reaction by being told somebody has immunity.

We'll see. not for a while though lol.
