Whether you love him or hate him, you have to admit that from a marketing standpoint, this is an extremely creative and edgy commercial. LeBron admits that he's made some mistakes and denies making any mistakes at the same time, all while taking shots at Michael Jordan and Charles Barkley. Personally, I think that this commercial is brilliant.

Personally, I think that this commercial is brilliant
Personally, I think this commercial is a bit desperate. Nike has invested a ton of money in Le Bron, and his brand has taken a big hit. If the egocentricity of the whole thing didn't turn people off, there were several other factors and actions that people found deplorable.

for the average sports fan considering likeability of an athlete....
1) there is something very endearing about a guy playing his heart out for the town he grew up in
2) there is something not very appealing when a guy turns his back on his hometown.
3)Everybody who ever was involved with youth athletics knows of and loathes the guys who manipulate or live on the edge of the rules and 'stack' a team so that they can win a championship.


Le Bron created a public relations fiasco for himself and Nike...this commercial is spin, spin, spin.

I agree with you kramb that it is a pretty sweet commercial.

How did I miss that thread? I actually did a search (with the search tool on the site) for LeBron James and totally missed this thread.

Dunno, not sure how sensitive the search is. I only had "LeBron" in the title, not "LeBron James."

I did a search for "LeBron James" and it searches thread titles and posts, so apparently no one in the thread mentioned his last name. A bunch of threads from multiple forums came up but only a few were recent and your wasn't one of them becuase it was looking for the whole search term.

Doing this type of commercial was a desperation shot for him. His image took a big hit and I think the majority of people will hate it. He's a bad guy now, like it or not.
