Yeah in Lima, I've been watching the local news and they haven't said anything about a funnel cloud or image yet .....

They said funnel images around Wapak & Cridersville

I think it was just an icon thing that the Toledo ABC affiliate uses to show conditions are favorable. There are a few of them just to the south of Lima now on the radar.

So that was it ? A five minute shower. No lightning or thunder. I've been watching the local weather channel for the past hour and a half. Seems like the storms always miss my area...Love weather porn !!!

Yeah, I think the weather service hasn't seen action for awhile. The appropriate forecast should have been "High Winds for about 5 minutes with a 3 minute downpour. No lightning or thunder to get excited about, just a rumble here or there. Then nothing afterwards."

I'm all for advanced warning, but don't freak people out over THAT!

To be fair, you only need 5 minutes of high winds to mess some shit up (particularly in rural areas). Since the winds are in the severe (58 MPH) realm and are fairly widespread, they have to make it known that it will happen regardless of its duration.

Also, the time of the year is playing into the hype. They don't want another Van Wert 2002 situation where no one was expecting anything because it was November, and an F4 tornado comes through.


Also, the Tornado Watch is most likely going to be extended into eastern OH/western PA by 2:00, assorting to the latest SPC discussion. They are still saying the general wind threat is the primary concern, but a few weak tornadoes may be sprinkled in too.

My grandma had her windows blown out and everything in her backyard torn apart from the tornado or just very strong winds in Cridersville. My aunt & cousin were home but luckily my grandma wasn't b/c the window was blown out right behind where she normally sits and it blew out the air conditioner that was sitting in that window too

But why a high wind warning issued the day before that don't expire until 8? The wind blew for 5 minutes, if that, while the storm made it's way through. Now, there isn't even a leaf blowing.

I'll hold out to hear about any tornado spottings, but as of now I've only hear of dopplar-indicated tornado warnings, which I've never been a big fan of.

If the wind breaks 58 MPH for 1 second all day, that technically meets wind warning criteria.
(it's 40 MPH sustained, or any gusts of 58)

They just covered their ass with the 8PM, because it could still be windy behind it, and it probably will pick up again some in a little bit. I know they're saying it's still windy back behind it because the front is strong as shit.

Yeah I know how it all works, I watch the weather pretty close. I just think it's frustrating sometimes and a bit overblown. It seemed this summer that any time there was lightning they issued a severe t-storm warning. There was more than one occasion I don't think the criteria was met.

Looking at the radar, it looks like the line broke up right before it got to Chillicothe. Just rainin' now, no wind.

There was a lot of red and it seemed like every county was outlined red (tornado) or yellow (thunderstorm). By the time it got to NC Ohio, there were a few yellow outlines, but nothing serious.

Whole lot of shingles blown off the roof. Gutter is laying in the yard had a blast watching it. Got little over 5/8 inch of rain in 5 minutes definitely needed the rain.
