Ohio stadium drew very well as I recall . Massillon is big school and they just dont care too much for the other classes but guess what several years the best teams are in divisions all the way down to 4 and this year even 5 . This is not owed to the Massillon Canton area . When bids go out like in WVA the attendance for the games are a high priority. This is a cash cow for Stark county and they in my eyes are a little on the flip side. You know what put the games at Stambaugh stadium in Youngstown and You will probably get huge crowds for the lower divisions.

The lower divisions aren't going to draw no matter where you play. I don't know what the hell makes you think the Massillon/Canton people think its owed to them, but I can assure you, you are dead wrong. They do a great job of putting it on and OHSAA knows that. And u are recalling incorrectly, Ohio Stadium did not draw a good crowd. Which is probably why it was moved BACK to Stark County.

1. User reviews? Are you serious? I guess you must be. If there are reviews most are done by the hotel employees/management. Are you really that gullible?

2. You say that "most know parking is an issue, all you had to do is ask". Ask? Who in the hell do we ask? We all live in Plain City. One would think that a place holding a state title game would have ample parking. Not in this case. Parking cars in a field for a state title game is a joke.

3. You say you base your comments on "common sense". Enough said.

LOL...is thread is great. TTBR- I live in the Canton area, and DO go to the lower division games. ALL those teams/kids deserve to have a full house to play in front of. And you are correct, the locals should be expected to support the games by attending. I don't really care where they move them too, I will be there for all six. You of anyone here knows, I don't get to watch my team(DOVER) at the prom.....I just love the game.

Maybe the games should be moved to the North North East side or the East East North side. I am sure the locals there would support them all.

Anyway has it been announced where week 12 and 13 games might be played at, or at least who has bid to have them???

1) If you dont think people give reviews, you are dumber than you appear. People love getting the word out about ANY negative experiences they have with a business.

2) I'm sure you were a member of JJ's, and you definitely were a member of this site. All you had to do was start a thread asking! I mean, its fun to start threads right?

3) & 4) Comments like that from a high schooler are to be expected. Nice try trying to weasel your way out of being lazy by not doing some research first though!

Actually, attendance at the playoffs has been in a steady decline over the last 10 years. OHSAA had a chart out on this subject. There is no reason to believe this decline will not continue no matter where the playoffs are held.

Im pretty happy with where the games are being played.. because the players focus on playing at the big 2 stadiums.. ppl shout when they win the final 4 game.. WERE GOIN TO MASSILON.. besides who really wants to play in a college stadium over a High School stadium for a High School championship game?

I know what Ohio stadium feels like and it is fantastic! @ Chiefs Look Massillon and Canton dont have to come out and support the games , Guess what Ohio doesnt have to put the games in theyre stadiums.
I think complacentcy has gripped that area and really just dont realize what a true gift that has been given to them . Give this great gift to Steubenville .We need all the money we can get and we have a stadium that could hold 5 title games . and we would get a better turnout in all . I know that would never happen ,but I do know our people would come out in full support.
The economy stinks so bad and this gift is given to Stark county every year and the fact the locals dont come to the games is insulting to the people of the other parts of the state that could be playing in a central location like Columbus . Not fair to the Cinci people for sure . When Wheeling West Virginia does a far better job than Stark county Ohio in holding state title games something is wrong. When West Virginia title games outdraw Ohio tile games "excluding D-1" and even D-1 on some years something is wrong.
The next time this issue comes up I hope the powers that be do a servey and Toledo ,Youngstown,Cinci, and whomever can apply for this amazing gift that has been bestowed on the Stark county schools.

I was just making an illustration . I know that would never ever happen. I just think that If I were a Stark county football fan Id be attending as many of these games as possible, Help your own community out ! It only makes sense . To them I think they believe this is a right of passage. They have such larg ego's up that way in the first place. They need brought down to earth . I actually am in favor of rotating the games around the state if they plan that. Maybe a 10-year plan.

Year 1: Ohio Stadium
Year 2: Toledo/Bowling Green
Year 3: Massillon/Canton
Year 4: Cincinnati (Paul Brown Stadium, all games)
Year 5: Youngstown/Warren (Stambaugh and Mollenkopf)
Year 6: Ohio Stadium (All games)
Year 7: Massillon/Canton
Year 8: Athens (All games)
Year 9: Akron (All games at InfoCision)
Year 10: Cleveland (Cleveland Browns Stadium)

And then rotate (bad site locations would get weeded out if they don't work out well). And good locations would get more. That way the whole state gets at least one crack at the games (Ohio Stadium gets it twice, the two pro stadiums get it once each). And the Northeast, Northwest, Southeast and North Central (Akron and Mass/Canton) all get a shot to show their hospitality.

I don't like moving it to Ohio Stadium just to move it to Ohio Stadium. But am not against the games being staged there from time to time.

^^^^^ Yes that is a good idea . I would bet that there is quit a bit of politicing involved in these discussions. Lets get a rotation thing going on here . All us football fanatics want to see full stadiums at these events . God knows that if Massillon gets to a title game it could be in timbucktu and they would bring 15,000 minimum . Ill bet Toledo and alot of Michigan people would attend games in the Glass bowl . Ill also bet that tons and tons of cinci people would attend games down that way as well as people from Kentucky and Indiana. West Virginia did a smart thing Charleston a central location with a huge stadium wasd in the mix but guess what . They found out putting it in Wheeling really boosted attendance and it also gave WVA football a showcase in between Ohio and Pennsylvania . Alot of us love seeing good football . They reaaly put some thought into this. Showcasing our great Ohio teams on the doorsteps of other states is a very smart thing I would say . If I lived in Michigan and liked HS football I would travel to the Glass bowl and see some great HS games nodoubt . same thing in the cinci area. Ohio university Id give a shot at having it also . That corner of the state doesnt have any D-1 schools but they are close to Huntington WVA and they have alot of small school powers that way such as Ironton . Lets do like my previous poster said and rotate it ,then weed a few of the less responding sites out .

I'm not opposed to a rotation, but it might be hard for a site to do a good job if they only host once every ten years. One of the great things about Stark County is the volunteers and the great job they do. It might be hard to build up what they have if you only do it once a decade.

I know it wouldnt be hard where I live to get mega volunteers. I am sure that would not be a problem ,I suspect in most cases. I am sure the people in Toledo or Youngstown would be thrilled to do anything they could .

I think it is more than just getting the volunteers. It is a matter of people getting good at doing a job after doing it for several years. I think Stark County does a great, but I will attend as many games as possible no matter where they are. I wish they would try to make it Thanksgiving weekend more often or at least doing something about the early Friday game when it isn't Thanksgiving weekend. I know many people who like to go, but it is an issue for many getting that Friday off work.

tt84, I go to ALOT of games, DI-DVI, and let me tell you, I see alot of my Massillon Brethren at those games, so for you to say Massillon doesn't get out to the games, is an outright lie. Maybe if the other teams backed their teams like Massillon does, the attendence would increase.

I must say, of all the 'location' threads, this is by far the worst.

And Be nice, dude, seriously, your complaints make you look very arrogant, you got there a WHOLE hour early and there was nowhere to park? Furthermore, tt84 says attendence is bad, and Be Nice is showing up and finding nowhere to park....Let's get our stories straight boys.

skank....you're right, Every game that I have gone to I have seen plenty of Massillon folks there...they do come out and support it.

who cares about parking....you're there to watch a state football championship!!! You should careless where you park as long as you are playing in that game!


My Dad and I go to all 6 games every year....by the parking pass to make sure you get close parking. The pass is good for all games but Division I, and usually we park in a church parking lot about 4 blocks away....not bad at all.

Orrville played in the state basketball championship this year and we had to walk further for that game than any football playoff game we have ever attended.
