Not surprising here. The school had high hopes for starting off at InfoCision in style. I was on the Zips forum and read Paul Chryst, offensive coordinator at Wisconsin and Luke Fickell from tOSU as two early names swirling around. Chryst has connections to the new athletic director and Fickell was a coach at Akron from 2000-2001.

I am not surprised by this. I hope they get a decent coach.

Fickell makes sense here. Luke needs to gain some HC experience, as I see him as the future coach for the Buckeyes. Give him 3 or so years at Akron, then when Tress hangs them up-- he's the man for the Scarlet and Gray.

i think they'd be much better off with Chryst if that's the direction they decide to go in; you're most likely going to get a young coordinator from within a BCS conference that would take a look at this job.

Really a shame for Burkhart. After winning the MAC and with the new stadium that was coming along after that you'd think things would have really looked up. Evidently they didn't.
