The bottom line on ESPN is saying something like 'Carmelo has been talking with Spike Lee (who is a long-time Knicks season ticket holder) about how he'd be interested in joining the team. Spike Lee has then went on to share this information with the Knicks front office'.....Is this REALLY being reported?? Do you think the Knicks are completely clueless that they have a shot at landing 'Melo, that they need their irrelevant, obnoxious season ticket holder to tell them so?
How did this conversation originally go down?

Spike Lee: Hey I think we have a chance to land Melo, did you know that?
Donnie Walsh: Wait what? We do? He wants to play for us?
Spike: yeah I've been talking with him, he said he'd like to play for us
Walsh: Oh cool thanks for letting us know. We'll probably try and go after him now.

SMH. Fuck off ESPN.

I think the "news" is that Melo basically told someone that he would like to be a Knick.

BTW...I agree with you lol

“If somebody came to us tomorrow and said you could have LeBron for max money and it puts you in the luxury tax, I’d do it in a heartbeat.”

The Hawks GM made that comment in an interview with a local newspaper and he was fined for violating the tampering rules in the NBA.

If Donnie Walsh was talking with somebody in regards to bringing in Melo while hes under contract its more than likely tampering.

From what I understand, Spike Lee is the one doing all the talking. I'm sure he is probably sharing it with the Knicks, but as long as the Knicks don't acknowledge that Spike is doing anything, they're probably fine.

I know Spike is talking, but I have a hard time taking this story seriously. Spike is acting like Melo's personal pimp

It really isnt surprising that the Knicks would deny this. What would you expect them to say? I'm not saying they are or arent doing it. If they are though, its def tampering.

Yeah but do you think the Nuggets really care? I mean they have been trying to deal him, and if they can get something worked out with the Knicks that's good news for them

Its not about whether or not the Nuggets care. I can promise you that David Stern does
