Thought some of you might enjoy this.
Thank you for your support of JJHuddle's Ohio High Magazine. After several years of publishing, declining subscription numbers and rising printing costs have made the magazine economically unviable. We have, therefore, made the unfortunate decision to stop publishing print and online versions of Ohio High Magazine.
Effective today we've canceled all future billing for the magazine so you may receive an email from PayPal indicating that your subscription has been canceled. Due to technical limitations with PayPal, we were unable to cancel magazine subscriptions without canceling the automatic renewal onyour JJHuddle.com premium membership if you had one. That means your premium access to JJHuddle.com will NOT automatically renew. It is best to wait until your existing subscription to the forums expires before signing up again here.
If you have paid in advance for future issues of Ohio High, you will receive a letter in the mail detailing your options for a refund. Please contact us at [email protected] if you have any questions.
Thank you for your support over the years. We look forward to continue bringing you award-winning high school coverage on our Web site, JJHuddle.com.
Sincerely,
JJHuddle Staff

But ... $12!

It's not economically viable to shell out $12 bucks for their shitty site, either.

Are you going to start-up a magazine? One less competitor, it's a golden opportunity.

I don't understand why you'd get another certified letter than. The old name, I can somewhat understand. Now, I don't see how they could come after you for anything.

I actually got this from another board, it wasn't even sent to me. I don't subscribe to the magazine.

So rising printing costs ends the print magazine.
What explains ending the online magazine? No subscription so no revenue to pay writers?
Bang up operation they're running over there.

Their email is @yahoo.com? They don't even have their own @jjhuddle.com email? Geeze, talk about minor league!

There is no joking in this forum. It's called Serious Business for a reason!

Oooh, damn. Wonder if Matt Napoli's is laughing at them too. Or was it the other guy that was gone in sixty seconds?

If I had been getting their magazine, this bit here would give me nightmares. Those people never were good at anything resembling customer service. What was it a few years back that turned into a debacle? A HS football preview or something that people didn't receive? I mainly just remember how horribly they reacted to the hordes of complaints. If you have paid in advance for future issues of Ohio High, you will receive a letter in the mail detailing your options for a refund. These clowns can't even admit they'd mess up a wet dream.
"Rising printing costs?" I work in the printing and publishing industry and I highly doubt this is the true reason.
They simply don't want to admit that their new "business model" of making a once successful site a pay-for-service proposition has been an abject failure.

Correct. Online sites generate revenue one of two ways: charging a membership fee or advertising. They tried to do both. Had they offered an ad free experience for paying members more people might have stuck around. Also, people are more willing to pay for something unique. JJ Huddle clearly was not unique. When someone else could leave and make a comparable site for free in a day or two (like Justin did) that allowed people to have the same, if not better, experience for free and with less ads, most won't pay for something they can get elsewhere for free. They just really over-valued themselves.

Agreed. The only thing that had going over the other forum type websites is that they were/are more well known.

I wish I knew how to cut and paste from one site to the next, because there is a guy over there crying about how he cherishes his JJ "hardcopies" and wonders how he is going to make it through life without them. Pure comedy gold.

It can't be that hard. Just highlight, right click, copy and come over here and paste.
