Considering the two hits were on Cleveland players, I think this thread has relevance to Browns fans.
I don't see anyone here actually believing he is going to retire. We all just think he is being a cry baby prima donna. If anyone on the Browns was doing the same thing, I would be calling him a cry baby as well.

in my coaching days there was a big difference between hurt and injured
If your hurt get back out there and play hard
If your injured go sit down and see the trainer

I just figured you guys were just hoping for retirement so you wouldn't have to face him again.

SE-If a player gets drilled and is hurting that's different from an injury. They don't say a player has a hurt and is out for weeks/the season....they say a player has an injury. There is a difference.
KR-He was talking about playing the game the right way or don't play at all. If a "dirty" hit means you shouldn't play, that goes for everyone who has done it.
I remember some Browns fans practically drooling over a Youtube video of TJ Ward fucking dudes in college up after Cleveland picked him. And he delivered a couple head shots on there too. Some of this hate spewed at Harrison for the hit(s) has to do with him being a great player for a hated rival and nothing more.

Exactly. I remember that thread well. There isn't a single player on Cleveland's roster on par with Harrison talent wise and he usually balls out against Cleveland....I'd be salty too.killer_ewok;526063 wrote: I remember some Browns fans practically drooling over a Youtube video of TJ Ward fucking dudes in college up after Cleveland picked him. I think he's going to use it to motivate himself, actually. An extra chip on his shoulder.
Same as not being drafted fueled him, now he's taking these rule changes like the NFL is against him. Still probably a good thing for the Steelers.
But I do think the rules hurt the more aggressive defensive teams like Pittsburgh. They dish out a lot more hits because of the way the defense flies around, so there are more opportunities for the knockout shots.
Plus, the way the linebackers drop in coverage you end up with guys like Harrison and Woodley colliding with wide receivers and running backs.

No, I will take the 15 yard penalties, just as the refs should have issued out during last weeks game.

I don't think there is as much hate towards Harrison for the hit as you think. I have seen a lot of posters say it should have been a penalty (which it should have been based on other calls around the league), but they have no problem with the hit. I think the hated rivalry is distorting reality for you.

So what is the time period one must be in pain to be "injured" as opposed to "hurt"?? Like if I sprain my ankle and I'm in pain for 3 days, am I just hurt or injured, can being hurt turn into being injured after a specified amount of time?? Can I be hurt for six days, but on the seventh day it turns into an injury?? I want to be sure I'm using these terms correctly in the future.killer_ewok;526063 wrote:SE-If a player gets drilled and is hurting that's different from an injury. James Harrison is a bad man, but if he can't play within' the rules, he will find himself suspended.

I could care less if he played for the Steelers, Browns, Chargers, Colts etc.......I hate whining like this. The guy is making millions of dollars to play a game, if he cant adjust to the rules he should retire.

No shit. I played football through high school and for a year in college. I never once heard a coach tell me to lower my head and lauch myself at an opponent. I think most kids are taught to hit, wrap and drive.........it shouldnt be that hard

He needs to just keep his mouth shut and play....he is coming off as a whiny bitch. And I agree with Laley's post about sure tackling...it may not be highlight material, but it is much more reliable.

I could see this being a problem for Harrison since he's a head shot master. Changes the game when you have to learn how to actually tackle instead of giving illegal headshots.
Here's my simple solution and I dare anyone to try and counter it: Make the rule that all tackles must be made at the armpit level or lower. If a ball carrier lowers his shoulders, the defender should be lowering his anyways to get under the pads. It's a simple solution to this problem.

LOL @ Harrison retiring. Judging by his previous actions, he'd be filing bankruptcy within 5 years if he does so. What an idiot.
And spare me the "rival" talk. If this were any other player in the NFL, my feelings would be the same. This is a complete joke.

LMAO at the Clown fans, typical that all you have to hang your hat on is the James Harrison story. You stooges would be dancing in the streets if Harrison played on your team and knocked out two Steelers.

BTW, if any of you watched or listened to Tomlin's presser, he clearly stated that he does not want his defense to change the way they play.

I think you are going to see every coach/defensive coordinator say the same thing. No way they want to take away a players aggressiveness.

Your team probably wont win 3 games this year. You Clown fans should be worrying about other issues. And yes, I hope Harrison knocks the shit out of Cribbs the next game too. That's what happens when you run a high school offense in the NFL.Footwedge;526147 wrote:Waaa...waaah...waaah. The douchebag needs to learn how to play within the rules. half of you are saying that now that he has to play "real" football or play "legal" football he is acting like a vagina. The NFL is not exactly "real" football, it stopped being "real" when the rulebook started favoring the offense to a point that is it almost not fun to watch.
i dont like seeing players get hurt, no one does. But football is a pretty violent game, and you know that from the first time you step on the field as a little kid. When you make it to the NFL you get paid millions of dollars and getting hurt is a part of the game. I find it hard to feel bad for a guy who gets a concussion, sits out 2 weeks, and still gets paid.

No shit Einstein! The point is, Tomlin is basically saying that if someone else gets knocked out, then so be it.
