I guess the White House would just as soon the whole thing go quietly away than do the right thing and set an example that says people should expect to face criminal charges if they deliberately go around the Secret Service.
Personally, I think they're sending the wrong message by not having immediately filed charges -- but that's just me.
Just because they were able to make it in doesn't mean they posed a threat to the President. They still went through all the same security checks for weapons and such.
This story is really just a big overreaction.
