"or clicking on a thread expecting humorous give-and-take, and instead finding Manhattan Buckeye drivel. "

Thanks for the complment. When a thred is titled "who is more annoying" what did you expcect? A conversation about two other people? Arguments that neither is annoying? I know Michael Cera is weirdly some hero in fanyboys' world, but it doesn't change the fact that he plays the SAME charater in every film (himself), and his schtick got old 3 films ago.

Heigl plays a lesbo in "100 Girls" and is in a bra for part of the movie.

I've only seen Heigl in Knocked Up, so can't say much on her, besides the fact that she's smokin' hot.

I think Cera is hilarious. Superbad, Juno, and Youth in Revolt were very good, imo.

Actors who've made a pretty nice living playing essentially the same character in every movie:

Will Smith
Sam Jackson
Will Ferrell
Morgan Freeman
Robert DiNero
Al Pacino
Jack Nicholson

The poster boy for playing the same character in every movie is probably Vince Vaughn, and I'll watch every single movie he is in, because his character is hilarious.

Horrible list for comparisons. Have you actually looked at ALL of the roles they have played?

They've all been around a lot long than Cera so obviously they will have some varying roles but in a majority of their roles they are playing what is essentially the same character.

To what? Try listing out their roles and how they are similar. Don't make a claim and not back it up without proof.

P.S. Here is my proof for all further conversations: http://www.wikipedia.org/

I'm guessing those "bombs" he has been in have padded the bank account pretty nicely.

Superbad, alone, he gets a little cred.
and, does anyone go to a Katherine Heigle film to see her dramatic acting chops?

it's kind of like going to an adult comedy or a feel-good romantic comedy, then complaining that it's not Shakespeare, as portrayed by Olivier.

or clicking on a thread expecting humorous give-and-take, and instead finding Manhattan Buckeye drivel.
Or clicking on a Browns thread and not seeing Capones dumbass posts in it.

Tom Cruise gets my vote for playing the exact same character in every movie.

Jack and Bob dont belong there imo. They both have played a lot of similar roles, but have played a ton of others as well....and succeeded tremendously in them. Some of their biggest roles were not the sterotypical roles for them. De Niro in particular as he has aged has been a tremendous actor in varying roles.

The rest, for the most part, I agree with. Al Pacino especially has made it as a gangster/thug/etc for his whole life. I give him credit for portraying them all very differently however.

It also depends on how broad you are willing to go on the typecast. Because for a good number of actors, their personalities are going to be the same regardless of role. Even if the character is not at all the same, the actor will obviously make them resemble each other a bit.

Really? That's the best you could come up with? Your "proof" listed FOUR (4) movies for each one that they portray as themselves out of all the movies they have been in.

Do you realize how many movies each one on your list has been in? You then proceed to supply a link that lists FOUR (4) movies for each. GTFO!

I apologize for you not agreeing with me. I'll be sure to change my opinion to match yours.

A factual basis for my opinion that those guys tend to play the same character in a lot of their movies in my opinion. IMO.
