I will say again, no matter who wins. Their name will not be Bob Taft so we all win.

Bob Taft was a joke. In fact I'll go as far as to say, in my opinion, he was a crook. But just because he is gone doesn't mean we win. It all depends on who we elect next fall.

Strickland has not been particularly impressive as Governor. I was expecting much better and thus far, I Haven't been impressed. I remember him being described as "just a suit" and I am afraid that the description is right on the money.

Kasich reminds me of a corrupt used car salesman. I don't like him and I have never trusted him. His middle name should be shyster. He has way too much baggage and skeletons in his closet. If I have to chose, I'll stay with Strickland for another term in the hopes that he does something positive. I think a vote for Kasich will be a vote for poor choices from a person I don't trust to begin with.

Two questinos for now: 1. Why the hatred for Taft? He cut taxes and significantly increased funding for schools, in addition to providing much more accountability (and results). 2. What are the "skeletons" against Kasich? 3.

Welcome OU! Glad to have you join us.

ross, I'm betting the "skeletons" are the bogus charges that he was somehow a principal person in the financial meltdown because he worked as an Ohio rep for (I believe) Lehman Brothers. It's bogus because of the position he held; it would be like blaming your local Chrysler dealer for the problems at GM.

Writerbuckeye: I agree with your analogy, but that doesn't rise to a "skeleton" to me.

It's too early to look at polls to begin with, but take into account the polls so far:

Kasich has come out ahead in two polls, both done by Rasmussen. Strickland has come out ahead in polls done by everyone else (namely Quinnipiac and Public Policy Polling).

I think it is safe to say that some (on either side of the fence), if not all of those polls, have introduced rather obvious bias. If the fact that it's still a year away wasn't enough reason to ignore them, this is another one.

Kasich was in Washington. He was part of the problem.

Considering the problems here & a split Legislature with the Rs having done nothing, I'll give Strickland more time & another term.

Again...you consider authoring the last balanced budget sported by the US government as "part of the problem?"

Bill Clinton should be sending Kasich a case of single malt and some hookers every Christmas...without him, Clinton has zero legacy.

Paladin: Did R's in the legislature propose raising taxes by $900 million? Did the R's flip-flop on gambling and cause the current $851 million deficit? Did the R's proposed $1.1 billion in new fees and taxes ($700 million on hospitals wiping out 3,000 health care jobs? id the R's propose to cut libraries by $227.3 million after promising to abide by a new state funding formula? You say the R's have done nothing...well, Strickland has done all of this and more. Go ahead and defend some of this, ANY of this.

I still like Strickland challenging people to cage fights if they go around saying he's ill. Classic.

Kasich chooses State Auditor Mary Taylor for Lt. Gov. Still waiting on Strickland. Who should he pick? How much does it matter?

Ted Strickland just gave his state of the state address, the week after it was announced that Ohio's unemployment has neared 11%

Who Wins...

I say, without any sort of bias here, that Kasich wins by 10+.....Its going to be a landslide...

Ted's State of the State speech was quite dismal. Might have been the worst I've heard. Not sure there is anything he can do to help himself.

Ted's done. Kasich is going to win simply because he is the alternative. Let's face it, the politicians in this state are terrible. They don't represent us and they never get anything accomplished except more pointless spending.

I saw Strickland in my local market and I thought I would inform the huddle that I've convinced him to pick me as his running mate. My striking good looks will cause the female population to vote in droves and carry the state for farmer Ted.

Agreed. Kasich isn't head and shoulders above anyone else, but he's different, just like Obama had going for him in the last presidential election.

I've had various experiences with Kasich throughout my life, and he seems like a douche, just based on personality/how he acts around others, has quite the superiority complex (as does Obama :D ), but i still might vote for him as i do care about Ohio, and i think he is, whether i like it or not, the best candidate out there atm.
