Reds won't be to the world series until they get a non-Dusty plate approach.

How did the Reds unravel so fast? Were the late season woes a sign of what this team really was? Was the NL central really the worst division in baseball?

Lots of questions for next year. How will this team show up for the 2011 season.

Fuck it, I'm content. You tell me in April that we have 91 wins and a 6 game lead over the cardinals with a NL Central title, I'm gonna hug you.

Phillies rotation is a buzzsaw....pitching will handle good hitting....

and if your defense deserts you, you cannot expect to win.

still, a better 2010 than I expected from the Redlegs. thanks for a taste of the postseason.

That is the problem with veterans who really like to compete. They play when hurt even though they handicap the team!

You're right, they were definitely a lot more fun to watch than Reds teams of the past. But just the way they played in this series makes you want to throw up. Except for a portion of game two, they never showed any life, any competitiveness. They blew every chance they had. The Phillies were a lot better - I think we realized that before this started. But Jesus, it was like watching a professional team play a college team out there. Completely backwards at the plate and on defense.

I'm content as well. Got a good taste of playoff baseball. Can't wait for next year, they're going to be insanely good when they get rid of Gomes, Rolen, etc. I'm hoping for a big time LF acquisition, if they can financially afford one.

I think he has now got a pretty good contract(for him) for at least the next two years. Who is going to take him? Or are the Reds going to eat the contract?

The Reds will be fine going into the future. I picked Philly to win the World Series and this is why. Nobody has a better 1-3 than they do, and in the playoffs, it seems like great pitchers become even better.

Cincy just ran into a much better overall team who has a plethora of postseason experience. As long as the Reds don't turn into the 2008 Indians, you guys have a lot to look forward to, especially with all the young arms.

They lost 2/3rd's of their games against teams with winning records while for the most part dominating those with a winning % less than .500.

It was not a quick unraveling. The turning point of the season was the 9 run comeback loss against these very same Phillies back before the All-Star Break. It absolutely fired the Phillies up, while the exact opposite happened to the Reds. To be honest, I really did not expect the Reds to even make it to the postseason this year, but because St. Louis basically collapsed in the past month, we were left at the top.

Next year is an unknown at this point. I just hope that it's not another 15 years before we make it back. But let's look at it this way, we could be like the Pirates. Last World Series - 1979. Last postseason appearance - 1992

This. The tell-tale sign was the sweep by St. Louis when they sent Carp, Wainright, and Reyes to the mound for 3 games. The Reds beat up oon crap teams and if not for a collapse by the Cards, they wouldn't be in the playoffs.

gosh, you are right...MLB teams probably never dump aging veterans who fall apart....and eat the contract...that would be unheard of....

I repeat...

Rolen just aged before everyone's eyes...stick a fork in him, he is done.
