I knew a stripper who used to hang out with Wells. She thought he was the greatest thing on the planet. Guess there's something to be said about being the Peter Griffin of MLB.

Great David Wells story.

Im with my cousins (Mike Lupicas sons) at the 1999 Final Four and Mike had us in seats right in front of the boxes at Tropicana Field (court in this case???). Anyway, the box directly behind us we see Tino Martinez drinking a Bud. Say hi, and then when the game starts Jeter, Posada, Paul O'Neil, Rivera, Broscious (sp), Wells, Pettite, and Sinbad (yeah, the actor lol) are all leaning over the edge watching.

In between the first and second game Tino pulls up Christopher, Alex, and myself for autographs etc. I sit in amazement as Wells and sInbad have a TUB of fried chicken wings. Sinbad comes over to talk to us, and when he goes back 10 minutes later David Wells has virtually polished this thing off by himself. It was utterly amazing. I cant fathom how one man could eat so much, so fast and still be a dominant pitcher in the Bigs lol.

Reminds me of Jimmy Snuka....bottomless pit.

Great story, btw.

Wells was a fat ass, and probably a drunk, but damn in his prime he could roll out of bed and pitch and more often than not win games. He was a gamer
