Cincy made Gozo work hard in this one but in the end the better team pulled out the win.

Lance Stephenson with 15 points led Cincy who fell to 4-1.

No, Cincy should have won this in regulation, but a TERRIBLE no call at the end of the game didn't allow that to happen.

Yeah, I think Cincy is the better team.

Gonzaga is very good, though, no doubt. They did take home the Maui title in the end.

But Cronin has the Bearcats once again playing Bearcat basketball. Cincy is back where it belongs: in the national spotlight. Watch out.

Gonzaga is solid, but nothing more than that. They proved they could grind because the game was physical and points were hard to come by.

As mentioned, the Bearcats got jobbed on the no-call. It was an obvious foul.

Lance Stephenson broke Bouldin's ankles on a crossover move to the rack. Very impressive player.

I thought the end of regulation there should have been a foul, especially considering how they called the game after the technicals. However Cincy has too shoot free throws better in ot. I am not sure what they ended up but at one point was 1-5. That started the ot in Gonzaga's favor. Hopefully that can be contributed to fatigue.

I am not sure which team is better as of now.

They each had a good tournament.

Let it stand that they both look stronger than many expected prior to the start of the season, and could very well be major players come tournament time.

Someone on ESPN was saying that traditonally, the winner of this tournament goes on to not only make the NCAA, but winds up doing very well in it.

I am willing to say that each team is going on to having a bright future this season, based on what I saw.

While I agree that it was very close to being a foul at the end of the game, I don't understand why Cronin just didn't call a timeout to set something up. He had 2 of them left, and 15 seconds to work with. Rather than letting a freshman try to win the game for you, he should have settled everyone down. They looked very tired at the end, but that is to be expected on the 3rd day against that quality of competition.

Could not agree more. It's a good time to be a Bearcat that's for sure.

Lets get one thing straight. Even if UC has success, it is not and will not be because of Cronin.

Yeah like LTrain I would like you to elaborate. I can't really stand Mick Cronin but I have to give him a lot of credit to having this team as good as they are this early in the season. And as for the last play, I would say that was a pretty damn good play, they just got screwed. If I were a Cincy fan I would have no qualms with no timeout being called there.

I would like a little explaining to be done as well.

"Yeah and if you only knew who REALLY killed JFK, then you'd see my point." The End.

You can't just do that.

I'm not a big Cronin fan either, but you have to give the man props for getting Yancy Gates and Lance Stephenson in here. Those guys could have gone just about anywhere they wanted. It also looks like the coaching staff has done a good job developing Yancy Gates. He is much more of a force this year than he was last year. Last year he reminded me of Robert Whaley (former UC big man with lots of potential who never made it), this year he reminds me of DeJuan Blair.
