Reds coming off of losing 2 of 3 @ Houston and look to get back on track in Milwaukee. Hopefully Bailey has better control than last time out.

Starting Pitchers:

Chris Capuano ( 3 - 4 ) 4.11 ERA Vs. Homer Bailey ( 3 - 3 ) 4.85 ERA

Reds Lineup:

Phillips 2B
Cabrera SS
Votto 1B
Rolen 3B
Gomes LF
Stubbs CF
Hanigan C
Heisey RF
Bailey P

Marlins beat the Cardinals in their make up game 4-0 ... Magic Number is 7

Were lucky the cardinals are terrible against everyone but us. They need to win this series and get back on track.

2 out of 3 would be nice...this is a 3 game series isn't it? If it's 4, a split will be fine.

Actually scratch my last post...they need to keep winning to get that 2 spot in the NL. I really don't want to play the Phillies without the homefield advantage.

I don't think the 2 spot would give the Reds homefield advantage against the Phils. But it will keep them away from the Phillies until the NLCS, and hopefully whoever the Phils play would upset them in the first round and then the Reds would have homefield advantage against whoever beat the Phills.

Yeah the only way the Reds would get home field over the Phils is if the Phils choke and get the wildcard.

A grand slam off Carpenter in the 2nd was the only scoring of the game. Complete game shut-out for Volstad. Fastest game in Marlins history at 1:58.

My dream scenario is the Reds get the best record as the Phils fall to the 3rd best record, and Atlanta gets the wild card and play the Reds. Then the Phils have to go west and not have the homefield advantage.

mhs, I just meant in the first round I don't want to face the Phillies...if we make it past the first round, I don't care who we play.

That pitch to Joey was nowhere near a strike.

First and third strike on Votto was incorrect.

MLB/gameday showed all 3 pitches to Votto well within the strike zone in both height and width. I think Joey gets too bent out of shape at some calls that are really correct calls.

Strike 3 was visibly above the letters.

They show that Stubbs HRs go to all fields. I think that one is by far the furthest one to the right he has hit. Most of his RF ones go more to RCF.

The third one was definitely a ball. It was 3 inches above "cincinnati" First one I remember saying that was a ball, but I could have been wrong.

Votto barely made a scene at either pitch. He said maybe two words on the called strike three.

WTF is Homer doing this inning? Not covering 1st base and then throwing it away on the pickoff move. Gomez is sitting at 3rd because of his two mistakes .

Homer pretty poor on defense. Slow covering first, poor at holding runners, bad throws.

That is better than normal for Joey.

Homer escapes by striking out 7-8-9 in the order.
