Also known as the Preseason NIT lol.

Good slate of games IMO.

Arizona State vs Dook
LSU vs UConn

Expecting a Duke/UConn final. But you never know what will happen in the Garden

Well, I thought LSU would give UConn more of a battle, but this one is over.

Duke is 8-2 all-time at the Garden in the preseason NIT, last winning the tournament in 2005, with a 70-67 victory over Memphis. The Devils also won it there in 2000 over Temple, the year Duke went on to win the national championship.

And since I made it here,
I can make it anywhere,
Yeah they hate me everywhere...

Now you're in New York,
These streets will make you feel brand new,
Big lights will inspire you,
Let's hear it for New York, New York, New York

Let's Go Duke!

Duke lost in the finals to Indiana in '96. I do remember that. Not real sure about the other loss, to be honest. I'm blanking. It had to be early '90s though, because Duke has won the Preseason NIT the last two times it has been in it.

I do know Duke dropped two games in the Garden in '00 in the semis and third place game of the Coaches vs. Cancer Classic. Terrible weekend.

I realize Duke will win this game, but I have never heard anything more disrespectful than what Gottlieb and Jay Will were saying about ASU. Instead of talking about the upcoming game, ASU/Duke, they decided to talk about the game on Friday between UConn and Duke. I don't mind looking over teams when it's a low mid major, but good God. Let them play the f'ing game(at least a half) first before you anoint Duke the winner.

I understand your point. But it was more Gottlieb that was focusing on the Duke-UConn game. Williams, on several occasions, mentioned how ASU deserved some pub. But, in the end, since UConn and Duke will be playing for the title on Friday, I don't have much of a problem with this:)

After all, Duke's players can think and play at the same time:)

Sluggish start. Reminds me a lot of last year's game against Michigan in the Coaches/Cancer Classic.

ASU needs to find a way to fight off this run by the Dookies or it's going to get ugly.

Boateng is horrible. Not sure why Sendek is sticking with him. I haven't seen him make 1 play that wasn't awful yet tonight.

No. Brian Zoubek does that all by himself.

Duke better play with its head out of its ass against the Huskies. If the Duke staff continues to believe in what Zoubek is doing, and the Blue Devil guards shoot 22% from three, UConn will take Duke to the shed on Friday. He needs to sit for good once Mason returns. Sorry Z, but time to cut our losses.

This may sound like a fan changing his tune, but it's not. This Duke team has a lot of weapons, and is much more rounded than it has been in years. This team CAN reach a Final Four, and once there, CAN challenge for the right to play for a title.

However, I am going to step back down from my earlier statements that Duke's guard play is among the best in the nation. Once again, a fairly athletic group of guards showed why Duke's guards are not that. Scheyer is a hell of a player, an All-American type of player, but it should be interesting when he's faces Dyson on Friday. Villa Villa Villanova, unfortunately, is all I see.

I did like how Duke pulled it together at the end and put it away. Great to see.

If both teams play like they did last night, UConn wins easily. I highly doubt Duke will play that, not even sure what the word is; I expect a really high level of game.

It was definitely difficult to watch.

I'm just glad Duke got that out of its system against ASU. It would have been u-g-l-y for Duke fans had the Blue Devils shown up like that against UConn.

There's always going to be a difference in focus and intensity when you're playing UConn, rather than ASU. I'm sure that Duke will play much better against the Huskies than they did last night. Should be an interesting game. I wonder if Roscoe Smith will be watching closely? It would be foolish to base a commitment on a single game, but I would think tomorrow's result might have some type of effect on him.
