VAN BUREN — Zane Kieffer recorded 27 rushes for 268 yards to help Van Buren and first-year coach Kevin Shoup record their first win of the season, beating Hardin Northern 14-7 in a Blanchard Valley Conference game Friday evening.
Van Buren is now 1-3 overall and 1-2 in the Blanchard Valley Conference while Hardin Northern (0-4, 0-3) is still searching for their first win.
Kieffer, a 5-foot-8, 155-pound junior, accounted for both Black Knights’ touchdowns on rushes of 72 and 5 yards. He also had three receptions for 53 yards, giving him 321 total yards of offense on the night. Ryan Adolph completed 12 of 19 passes for 127 yards.
Tommy Wheeler scored on a 53-yard run for the Polar Bears. Logan Price recorded 17 rushes for 90 yards.
Van Buren had 441 total yards of offense while Hardin Northern had 209 yards of offense.
