Or is it just something you do to put food on the table and support your hobbies? I used to be fairly dedicated to my work but lately it's just something I have to do so I can do the things I really want to do when I go home. I thought if I just waited it out I would get motivated again, but that doesn't seem to be working. Part of me thinks I should look for a new job to try to get motivated again but I'm really comfortable here and with all the stories about the economy I just haven't wanted to.
So what about you?

My God I hope not.
I define my job. It doesn't define me.

Motivated? I think the only type of job that would motivate me is if I owned my own business. Who is motivated to make someone else more money?

I am "dedicated" and "motivated" but that doesn't mean the job defines who I am.

I don't want to have to work, I guess who really does? I work to support myself and to be able to do things I enjoy. I want jobs that pay good with little actual work, again who doesn't? Right now I have a pretty good gig that pays me well and I don't have to break my back. I work for a financially strong company so it will serve me well to remain with them as long as possible even thru to retirement. That is my plan.

if i told you my job title, you could infer a lot of things about me, most of which would be true.
i don't work to live, but in some ways my job is my personality.

This is pretty much me to a T! The first couple years on the job, I was always here early, volunteered to help out others with their work, and stayed late to get things done 'cause I always hated coming in to a huge pile of work in the mornings. Now, I roll in right on time, let people deal with their work on their own, and I'm out at 4pm on the dot. I think alot of it has to do with the fact that I was naive when I started. I always thought if I helped others out, they would do the same. Certainly, not the way it works in the corporate world. It wears on ya after awhile, and you begin caring less and less as time goes by. I work for a paycheck, and that's it. When I walk out of here everyday, I don't even think about work until I come back, while everyone else takes home their work problems and stresses out about them.

My career is straight commission sales (executive recruiter) so I get out of it what I put into it. If I don't show up for work I don't give myself a chance to make money that day.
Do I completely LOVE what I do? No, but it pays pretty well. I'm sure there are other things I'd enjoy doing more but after awhile you become used to living a certain lifestyle.

That pretty much sums me up as well. I don't enjoy my job at all, but at the end of the day, they are giving me a paycheck to make them money. So, I'll do that to the best of my abilities.

I thought for a few years that my job did define me a little bit. Then realized after taking too many pay cuts and putting up with the b.s. the job really wasn't for me. Someone wanted me out, so now I'm gone it was a hard decision but some of the actions my employer took made it an easy decision. I am going back to school for Auto Engineering because I believe that is what defines me! (I hope)

I make enough money by doing nothing than I do actually doing anything, so no, my job does not define me.

My job doesn't define me its just a means for money to support myself. Although since I've gotten this job I've realized I fit a lot of sterotypical stuff that people say about my job type though.
