No the key to the story is when the cop ordered the subject to halt, he did!! He didn't try to run or resist so the cop had no further reason to go any further. That is the point of this story! Great story though! My company's HQ is in Bloomington, IL I will be there in Nov as I do every year.

Oh god here we go again you are straight up missing that point. The cop used common sense yes, just like 99% of them do then react in a split second when things turn south. The point is, the cop ordered, the subject listened and obeyed as they were suppossed to so no one got hurt and it turned out to be a touching story on top of that. And the issue would already be south since someone had to call them because something "not right" was happening. Thats not normal. The situation was already not normal ie negative, ie bad.
