I would have never guessed that Texas has 4x as many players as Florida.

The Friday night game was Cocoa, Fl. vs. nationally top 5 ranked Abilene, Texas. Cocoa fell behind 10-0 but fought back and the 37 man team made the plays that counted, taking a 24-13 lead and holding on for a 24-21 victory.

Cocoa's 3-0 season start:
Olive Branch, Miss 14-7 at Daytona Beach
Thomas Jefferson (Jeff. Hills, Pa.) 43-7 at Woodland Hills, Pa.
Abilene, Texas 24-21 at DeSoto, Tx.

I've got FBS Texas with 10 and Florida with 7. I was looking this up because Florida does not have many lower level NCAA football schools.

FCS- Tex 7, Fla 2

Texas 26, Florida 4. Not alot of places to play if you don't have D1 ability.

I see Wiki has 10 & 7 . Fla has 3 FCS.
I knew there aren't alot of small college programs in Fl. I guess after the northern states pick the high schools clean there are not enough kids left ? D1 or bust, ha.

Yeah, my intent was not really to correct you but to show that there are 36 football colleges in Texas and 11 in Florida. Ohio has 41 with a 11.5M population.

Thanks, they add up to some very interesting numbers. I guess that's a good reason so many Florida kids play college elsewhere. There are a bunch of schools that were Junior or Community Colleges that are growing to offer 4 yr degrees(Daytona State), but I don't hear about new football programs very often. UCF football took almost 30 yrs to get a stadium.

Wrong, per capita Louisiana has more. Unless you can show me big changes for today's rosters.

Florida has alot of top D-1 teams though . Ohio has 2 OSU and Cincy and Cincy just came onto the seen . The MAC schools sometimes are decent so we may on occasion get 4 bowl teams from the GREAT STATE OF OHIO!!!! Like say the Bucks and Bearcats plus maybe Ohio, and Toledo or Akron . But in Florida you guys have FSU, Florida ,Miami of FLA, and then you got USF,UCF, Florida Atlantic ,Florida INt those last two are like MAC schools But you have three schools comperable to OSU

How about - 'tOSU has more national titles than any individual Florida school.' Does that work for ya ?

and 3 top schools in Fla dilutes the talent pool compared to tOSU, who is THE team for top Ohio kids to go to.

I saw Cocoa in Woodland Hills last weekend, they had a nice team, and were actually my favorite team to watch out of all the teams besides Big Red.

Boy, they are getting around.

I saw their first game vs Olive Branch. It was an instant classic. The stadium was rockin on a couple of big goal line stands by Cocoa, one in the last minute.
