Sad indeed.... you would think he could afford something nicer than a Sunfire
What's amazing is not that Neidhart was found in possession of these drugs, but he was also charged with an attempt to distrubute. I've read another report which alleged that Neidhart might have stolen these drugs from someone else in the first place. Pretty sad all around.

The article Peake posted references the burglary charge because the name on the pills was the same name as a woman whose house was robbed.
As a side note...Rey Maualuga was driving a Pontiac Sunfire when he was popped with a DUI last year.

Yeah, nobody knew what to expect when he grew his hair out and shaved the beard.
The story said something about it being years since Anvil was around so they used a photo of someone else instead.

His sunfire does have a bumper sticker that says my other car is a Mercedes.

I know you were joking but a lot of these old timers didn't make a lot of money in the business. About 9-10 years ago I ran into Greg Valentine in the Tampa airport and was talking about the business with him. Asked him where he was going and he said "got an indy show up in South Carolina. Can use the $200." I'm thinking "a WWE Hall of Famer and you're working mom & pop shows for $200?" Makes me wonder what we were paying Abdullah the Butcher, Snuka, Tommy Rich, Tracey Smothers & guys like that when they worked for some of the shows I worked on.

If the pay was great, guys wouldn't need to pump themselves full of pain killers and who knows what else in order to make their next $200.

I'm with you BR. I have seen more and more evidence in the past decade or so that makes me shake my head. I too would think Valentine or Neidhart would have a dollar to their name at this point of their life given they wrestled in the WWF/E when the business exploded from a commerical standpoint. Rich, Smothers, Brad Armstrong, etc. likely earned next to nothing by comparison.
Incidentally, how did you like working with Abby. I have heard very nice things about him.

There are NFL players that drive Ford Fusions....there are also ones that drive Escalades.
Based on nothing else but a car choice I think the Fusion driver gets it. 22-27 year olds making pretty good bank in a career that has an average in the NFL of 3.4 years.
Maybe The Anvil's car choice was the smartest thing he's done.

On STO on Sunday nights, they run some little Ohio-based indie fed called Pro Wrestling Ohio. For their big yearly summer show, they get former big-time fed guys to sell tickets, I guess. Like this year, they had some toothpick bounce off Hacksaw Jim Duggan for 5-10 minutes before getting pinned. Last year, they had Valentine and Neidhart in a tag match (thinking it was originally supposed to be Beefcake and Valentine, but Beefcake got hurt, so the Anvil was a sub). To be honest, watching them was depressing. Two out-of-shape guys who could barely move trying to go through the motions of a wrestling match in front of a hundred or so people against an inexperienced no-name tag team in a minor-league promotion that's claim to fame is having its talent get used as "security" or random jobbers when the WWE comes to Cleveland.

I know who you're talking about. That's probably JT Lightning's group Cleveland All Pro Wrestling. Lightning is one of the bigger local dickhead's in the business. He brings in a lot of the old timers. When Snuka worked for us he was kind of bloated but that could have been due to the fact that he always had the munchies.
It's kind of a rule of thumb/respect thing that if you bring in a legend/old timer that you will job to them. Not Lightning....he'll go over on Hulk Hogan if he gets the chance.

Used to be called that. CAPW folded or something than essentially was resurrected as Pro Wrestling Ohio (different name, but a lot of the same workers...minus Tracy Smothers as the world champ even though all he did was comedy heel stuff). I mean, Smothers as champ was just laughable. He lost the belt to frickin' Blue Meanie in a match that was two minutes of action that followed 15 minutes of Smothers either stalling or starting up a dance-off.

I know what you mean about depressing. I saw Jake "The Snake" Roberts on this promotion a few years ago. Jake was almost completely bald minus his mullet and his gut was so obtunded that he likely can't see his feet, let alone "Damien". What's more he was clearly trashed (which is nothing new for the past decade or so. Heck, even Brett Hart likes like crap anymore. He's fat and his he still sports the same hair style he had in 1990, despite the fact his hairline is too thin to pul the look off. I really don't like seeing these old timers look so awful. I miss the days when I was a kid and an aging Bruno Samartino, Vergne Gagne or Bill Watts still were in some shape when they got into the ring.

Jake is horrible. He probably only works to pay for drugs. In fact, I thought I had heard awhile back that he wanted one of the promoters to keep his money and just pay him in drugs. Didn't he also grab some womans/fans boobs at one show he was so messed up?

The Sunfire is no longer produced.
