At a school with a nice history in basketball, there have been 3 triple doubles recorded. Two by the same person, all in the last month. Evan Turner is on his way to being in the top 3 for National Player of the Year.

No other player in Big Ten history ever had two triple doubles in a career! I didn't say season, I said CAREER. That's shocking considering the fact players like Magic Johnson, Glen Rice, and others came from the Big ten.

Very impressive! The fact that he's the first to ever record two in a career says a lot!

I was really impressed with Turner tonight, because even though he didn't score much in the first half, he never really forced anything to "get his". It's obviously way too early in the season to predict POY and All Americans, but he's as good as anyone else out there right now.

When it's all said and done, he might actually improve his draft stock this year, which I didn't think was possible. Could end up being a top 5 pick.

not completely impressed.. yes nice numbers but against another inferior opponent. He played better against California but shit the bed and turned it over a ton against North Carolina...

I don't care if he was playing a D2 school. A triple double in college is quite a feat.

The fact that there have only been three triple-doubles in the history of Ohio State basketball makes it incredibly impressive regardless of opponent.

And I pretty sure the other of thousands of former Big Ten players played weak opponents as well. If that's the only reason Evan done it, they why has no other player in Big Ten history have more than one Triple Double?

There are a lot of teams who play against less than stellar competition and there are players who never come close to getting a triple double. It's not like Ohio State is the only team who plays lesser competition.

It is a great feat. Regardless of who someone is playing against. It's a very rare occasion...unless you are Jason Kidd (or Oscar Robinson) in the NBA.

Yeah...I feel like an idiot.

I just woke up when I found a couple (of idiotic) posts discrediting the triple double.

I'll take it! Triple doubles don't happen often in the college game. Last one I really remember was D. Wade's in the tourney.

Usually when playing a crappy d-1 school or a d-2 school you end up blowing them out, so you dont play the entire game to pad your stats. Thatd be my guess as to why we dont see more triple doubles. But Evan played 39 minutes so of course hes going to pile up the stats playing against lipscomb lol. Im not saying its not impressive at all....Im just not raving over it like some.

Automatik....Couldnt quote your post for some reason but there has been alot more since D-Wade.

Manny Harris had one last week against Northern Michigan. Hasheem Thabeet had one last year against Providence(15 points, 11 boards, 10 blocks) and almost had another a few weeks later against Seton Hall (25 points, 20 boards, 9 blocks). Greivis Vasquez had one in January against North Carolina(35-11 and 11). Paul Delaney of UAB had one against Tulane last year (16, 12 and 10). Cole Aldrich had one against Dayton last March as well going for 13 pts/20 boards and 10 blocks. Terrence Williams(Nets draft pick) also had one in late '07.

In '07-'08 season, Tony Lee from Robert Morris had 2 T/D's in a row and nearly missed having one in the two games prior. His came against Long Island and Central Connecticut. The games he nearly had one in came against Youngstown State and Florida International.

All of these from last year were during conference games. I would say they are more impressive than doing it against Alcorn State or Northern Michigan.
