Add me to the list.

Last night I stayed at the Hower House in Akron.

For those of you that don't know, Hower House is a historical site on the University of Akron's campus that was built during the 1800's and is filled with a bunch of artifacts and shit that some dude collected throughout his travels around the world.

Anyway, apparently the ghost of his wife haunts the house. I guess he cheated on her a bunch of times and due to his infidelity she hates male guests.

Well the reason I'm posting this is last night I stayed at the Hower House. One of my lady friends is a volunteer there is allowed to live there for free while she is in school.

Now, I have never experienced any 'ghostly' encounters but last night creeped me the fuck out. I was knocked out cold and at about 3 in the morning I woke up in a cold sweat to something falling off the desk. Still asleep, I didn't bother to wake my friend because she had class in the morning. I continued to lay there for about an hour unable to sleep. Finally, as I was drifting off, I heard the floor boards outside the door start to creak (no one else was in the house at this time). About ten seconds after that, I began to feel this cold, intense pressure on my arm as if two hands were pushing on me.

Needless to say I didn't get much sleep the rest of the night and ended up waking up my friend.

Any of you ever have any similar experiences?

Not quite as intense as yours...but still a pretty creepy experience.

My grandma had just passed away after fighting cancer for many years. All of my aunts and uncles had come into town, and we gathered at my grandpa and grandma's condo for dinner. They lived in the basement floor of the condo, and had a small window near the top of the wall that was barely above ground level and my grandma had an Irish wind chime that she loved that she hung near the window.

During dinner, while we are all scattered throughout the place, the wind chime started going crazy. We thought it was going to fall off its hook it was clanging so much. My grandpa was sitting in his recliner and said, "Jesus Christ, Jeanne (my grandma's name)! We get it! You're here!" The chime stopped immediately, and didn't ring the rest of the night.

It was pretty creepy...but not as creepy as your story.

Nope. I used to live in an old funeral home and never had any creepy experiences...it has made me a skeptic.

Last spring both Ohio State and the Cavs were playing on television at the same time. I made a remark to my wife if Jared (my son who passed away in 2008 and a huge fan of both teams) were here he would love nights like this.

About half an hour later while sitting in my chair I was hit in the arm by a flying beer bottle cap.

My wife was sitting next to me, we were the only ones home at the time. And we had no bottled beer in the house.

Was it Jared signalling he was there watching the games with us?

I was a skeptic for the longest time too.

I knew the story of this lady before I had even stayed here. My friend had told me some enounters that she had had and I just called her crazy and brushed them off. But after last night I fully believe her.

I guess she has gotten out of the shower and there has been writing on the steam on the mirror. Also I guess she has been pinned down on her bed before and whenever her or the other girl that live there close their closet doors there is knocking coming from the inside until they open them. To this day she never closes her closet door and sleeps with a light and her tv on.

Mines not as intense but pretty crazy anyways.

I used to work in a bar in the town I live in. Everyone always told me it was haunted but I worked there for about a year and a half at night and never seen or heard a thing. Well one night I was by myself and watching a baseball game on tv. I look up and a guy in a rimmed hat overalls and a flannel shirt was walking up to the bar. I thought it was kinda weird cause the doors has bells on them so you can hear if someone comes in. None of them rang at all. So i got up out of my seat and went to ask him what he wanted to drink and i look around and he was gone. Nowhere to be found I looked in the bathrooms and outside on the patio. Was pretty wierd and I called a friend to stop in to keep me company the rest of the night. Only time I was every nervous about stuff like that.

My girlfriend who is smart, rational, truthful, etc. swears that she has had encounters with ghosts in several different places that she's lived. I think she's nuts but he swears she was the same way until her experiences. I wish I could have an encounter just to know she's not a just delusional or something.

I just can't believe it though.

Didn't really see or feel anything..but we have a heavy mirror above our bathroom sink. It weights at least 80 lbs..it's held up on the wall with 8 anchor bolts in the back of it. Mind you, the only ones here are me, my wife, and my son, who was 6 at the time. We all went to bed one night about 10 pm. In the middle of the night, about 3 am, I got up to go take a piss. When I went into the bathroom, the antique mirror had been taken down and was leaning on the wall on the other side of the bathroom. Still haven't been able to explain that one, and it creeped me the hell out.

Another time, my son has posters and pennants all over his bedroom wall. We went to visit the family for the weekend, and when we came home, every single poster and pennant had been removed from his walls and stacked neatly on the edge of his bed. Another one we can't explain.

I can help you GoChiefs

Example number one: you got home from work early I had to hide in the closet. I left mirror there as a sign to your wife I had left in the middle of the night.

Example 2: the County came in while you were gone to rid your kids room of all his NASCAR and WWE posters so he might have a chance to grow up and be normal.

#1) Thank you for the explanation. Now I can quit wondering about it!

#2) That would be great..except for the part that it's all Cavs, Browns, and Reds posters. Lol

I've had a few encounters. When I was growing up a figure of an older woman would appear to be walking up the steps of our porch. My Dad thought it was His Mother-in-Law who live down the street. My Mom thought it was our Neighbor who would come over to use our phone. Turned out it was neither. It would appear at night as a white figure and during the day as a grey shadow. I was the only one that saw her someplace other than going up the porch. I saw he walking beside the porch and I could only see the upper part of the body. I thought she was a neighbor Claudia that always wore a white leather jacket and walked real stiff. I looked out the window saw her, then told Mom that Claudia was coming. The figure then moved up the steps, Mom went to the door, and no one was there. She then called Claudia who said she has been inside all night.

I had a cousin. who was close to my Dads age, that saw it too. (Twice in one night). He and Dad were watching a Univ of Kentucky basketball game, when the figure appeared. He got up and went to the door, but nothing was there. He was a little puzzled and sat back down, Dad and Mom said nothing knowing what it was. Later during the game it appeared again. He turned to my Dad and said 'Aren't ya going to get the door?'. Dad said 'Na, that's just our Ghost'. Eddie chuckled and said 'was that what I saw earlier?'.

We moved from there in 1978 and I've never had an experience again. I've always wanted to go back and ask the people that lived on the lot after us if they encountered anything. Every time I've checked the lot is always empty.

I do not believe in ghosts. I don't necessarily believe that people who "experience ghosts" are full of shit....but I do believe that everything can be explained with some simple tests/logic.

I have always been facinated myself by the paranormal and cryptids. The house I grew up in (from 1976 - 1994) was very old, 2 story wood home. I remember when our living room was redone inside the walls there were letters dated to 1900 - 1910 we found along with old newspapers, a baseball bat, and other old nick nacks so I we knew the home was around a long time. Our upstairs, of course where me and my brother shared a bedroom and my sister's rooms were, was freaky. At night you could always here noises in the attic, like people were walking around. You could hear the sounds of chains late into the night. When downstairs and with no one upstairs you would hear footsteps up there.

One night I will never forget though. I came home late, I was probably a junior in HS around 1am, everyone was asleep. As I was heading to my room up the stairs, I could hear a conversation between two woman but I couldn't make out what they were saying. I listened for a moment as I stood on the stairs when my mom awoke and came out and asked me what I was doing. I asked her if she heard that, she said she did, she hears it all the time just go to bed its nothing but asked me if that was the first I had heard it? It was the first and only time I ever heard that.

There was a friendly ghost in my house. She was the wife of the person that I bought the house from. She passed away while they lived here. He came back unexpected one day about 4-5 years ago to look around to see how the house had changed. Haven't heard from her since. Weird.
