If Big Red was worried about winning the OVAC, they would schedule more OVAC opponents. There is a simple answer as to why Brooke is in first place now.............they have played one OVAC school and Steubenville has played none. It's not hard to figure out.

I know that OVAC banner in football can be used as toilet paper but to every other team in the OVAC its a great award. Back in the 80s and even early 90s Brooke played Canton McK, they played Austintown Fitch, they played and beat Ursulin , they played WPIAL power Mt Lebbanon every year and beat them too . They wouldnt play us though and back then they had a different football knowledge . I think in time it will come back to them . I hope they win every other game but ours

ferflog that point system is rubbish man it isnt hard to figure that out if you look closely at it . Sports Illustrated in 1985 wrote a nice piece on it back then . It is a rubbish point system dude they need to fix it . But lets move away from the OVAC talk and just worry about the mighty Bruins.

Brooke will be no pushover . They are back . This coach is the real deal we are in for a big fight and I know the Brooke faithful will invade Harding with thousands of fans for this one because they no they are back and now they want us, you better believe that . This may turn into the next Wintersville rivalry .

They will play. RRR !!! I see no rivalry , they will be treated like Wheeling Central . Get BEAT then drop BR.

Back in the 80's when Brooke really had some excellent teams, I worked with many Brooke fans, and their take on the 2 teams scheduling a game was always that "Big Red won't play us". But, then Big Red people would say "Brooke won't play us". Does anyone REALLY know who turned who down or is that one of those questions that will always remain up for debate and only the 2 coaches and athletic directors know the answer to?

Having played in the 80s I do know for sure we tried to get them on schedule. We played them in Freshamn and Reserve and I do remember different coaches saying they will not play us . Thats what burned me back then . and then ofcourse Doug Huff and all the Sports writers giving them national attention and slighting us all the way it was total disrespect and we should NEVER NEVER NEVER EVER LOSE to a WVA team !!!!! Punish them hoops!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The "rivalry" will continue beyond week 10... When it should.

Thinthickbigred was just responding to a question I asked. Holdingout: nobody is stuck in the 80's, but you did hit a nerve with me (lol). We Big Red people are extremely proud of our teams of the past. It's called "TRADITION". And every player knows that he is playing not only for the team but for every player that has ever donned a Big Red jersey. Come on over Friday night. It's "Legends" night and one of those 80's teams will take the field pre-game to be honored.

Brooke never beat Ursuline....or Fitch...or McKinley. Every time they stepped up to well known Ohio teeams they got beat. They did squeek out a few victories over Rayen and Chaney though.

I wonder how this will effect the casual fans that may have attended the Creek and Edison games.
I'm sure some will be in Steubenville instead.

Big Red Freshmen will play Brooke Freshmen today,(9-9 ) at 5PM at Brooke. Freshmen coming off an impressive win against Canton Mckinley 32-12. BR will feature an excellent running back along with one of the best linemen I have seen at this level for many years.

Cheers.
