Having gone to Xavier I never had a football tem to root for so I started watching YSU and the rivalry they had with Marshall.

To upset OSU Marshall must hold onto the football. If they lose the turnover battle there's no way they beat Ohio State.

Must contain Pryor. If Pryor goes crazy, then Marshall has no chance. Defense is key for the Herd.

Special team special teams special teams. Can't give up any big special teams plays.

Also pray a lot.

So those are the things Marshall MUST do to upset OSU IMO.

Marshall would have to kidnap everyone on OSU's 2-deep to have a chance.

The only way OSU loses to Marshall is to have them not care about winning the game, a la vs Florida or LSU a couple years ago.

Marshall only chance is that they play well above what they are capable of doing on a regular basis, and that OSU is looking past them to Miami, turns it over 2 or more times and plays WELL below their potential. Anything can happen and OSU under Tressel traditionally comes out of the gate slow early in season.
But I feel with OSU returning experience that that won't be an issue this year.
35-10 OSU.

It wouldn't be the first time OSU struggled with an out of conference opponent they were supposed to beat easily.

Be aware. Marshall is very athletic. They won't be intimidated by the 'Shoe.

That being said, the talent differential is way too much to overcome, and the Buckeyes win 38-14

I remember all these OSU fans talking about how Navy won't be a match to Ohio State last year.

True. And Navy actually turned out to be better then ANYBODY thought they would last year. 10-4 overall

Yes it was. Navy was attempting a game-tying two point conversion with only 2:23 left in the game. Thankfully we picked off their pass and returned it for two, but at that moment, the game was definitely in doubts.

That being said, Marshall could win the turn over battle, keep Pryor in the pocket, play perfect on special teams, and pray a lot, and they will still lose this game.

Even if Navy converts the 2-pt conversion, OSU has the ball with 2 minutes to go, only needing a FG to win. Navy's defense was tired, and even if the game went to OT, OSU is a lock to win. When was the last time OSU lost in OT at the shoe? Answer: Never.

If you look back over the last seven years Navy is 17th in Total wins by a D-1 football team while Ohio State is 4th.

If you look back over the last decade The Midshipmen are second in the nation in avg rushing yards per game only behind Nebraska by less than 1 YPG.

Since Paul Johnson took over and now Ken Niumatlolo Navy football has put some very consistent growth together as a program. Although they still have some up and down years in the win column their play and strength of schedule continue to rise.

With 14 starters, 5 of their top 6 rushers and 35 letterwinners returning, Rivals.com has them ranked 23rd nationally.

They would need to play worse than they did at Purdue last year or MSU in '98, loose the turnover battle by at least 4 including a return for TD.

Go Thundering Herd!!!

As a YSU fan, it is very difficult for me to say that, but there is no chance I am cheering for the Buckeyes tonight!

I think this is the first season in several years that OSU won't be relying on one side of the ball or one part of the offense. IMO, OSU won't have to rely on their defense to win game nor will they have to rely on just their rushing or passing game. I think they have the complete package and even if Marshall did everything right they would still lose.

Marshall will score 7 points, Ohio State will unfortunately score around the 55 number. The opening kickoff should be interesting. After that I may nap.
