You cant have an extremely successful site for free, without getting revenue from somewhere. I'm sure there are some operating expenses involved. it isnt like they are generating ad moneys AND charging you to post here! As some have chosen to do. I say Good Job Justin.

Nothing wrong with Ads except when they have so much video content it slows access to a crawl. Great job so far freehuddle.com

Not sure where people get the idea that sites like this don't have expenses.

I don't have a problem with these ads. They are unobtrusive.

This site is a breeze to negotiate.
The other site is absolutely ridiculous with ads and cookies and whatever clogging up the pipeline. Earlier in the year they had TWO ad banners popping up on the same page. Got to the point where I couldn't even use my back button because it would have "infolinks etc" in the history, some kind of cookie I guess. Not too smart, running a site and making it inconvenient for users. And then charge 12 bucks on top. Greed. UGGHHH.

I know the site is costing justincredible money..it's not free. Remember..he made this site with his own out of pocket money so we can all enjoy an alternative to paying. He's gotta do what he's gotta do. Remember..you can always donate to his fund to help with the site. ;)

I remember nearing the end of the football season "they" were soliciting donations so that the site could become faster. Less than one month before mandating fees they were asking for donations!!

There is a cost to operate anything and these sites may be called free but there are costs involved. Let's be patient with the folks that started this site up and understand that nothing in this life is free and to demand it may be a tad unreasonable.

Come on! We have a free website here, how do you think that is possible? Ads ... you can't have it both ways.

I remember the ads were asked for by some in order to help Justin fund the site. I for one do not mind a bit and I haven't noticed a slowdown at all.

I don't even notice ads anymore, of course a lot gets filtered with Mozilla and the adblocker.

Doesn't bother me a bit. Heck, if you eke out a small profit for your hard work and commitment of capital then you deserve it.

This site is currently running me $70/month and will cost more when it get to the point I need to upgrade servers (next upgrade will run me $130/month). Without ads/donations the site won't continue to run as I am not going to fund it completely out of pocket (my wife wouldn't allow it). I promise to never put those annoying "infolinks" like on the other place. They are ridiculously obtrusive and slow the site down to a crawl.

OH YEAH? Beat this:
In the northwest part of Ohio, there is a high school team that is doing good. They have a star player. That player is doing really good. Watch this team because I like them and think they are good and will do good and stuff. The end.

You can't compete with my journalism degree, Wes! I'm in charge of content!

Zalkath welcome to the Serious Business forum. All your prevoius posts were in the football forum. If you would have been looking at this forum in the early days you would have known this was comming...and welcomed by many. If the ads are too much then go to the pay site and deal with their info links, pop ups, and Virus' that were going around a while back.

Complain about the ads here only other huddlers may jump on you. Complain about the ads over there and see what happens.
