LeCure does excellently in his 2 innings, six up, six down. But basically the difference between his outing and Wood's outing was with Wood they "hit them where they ain't", and with LeCure they " hit them at them".

Francisco always looks over matched and like he's always trying to hit a home run with every swing

Stubbs created that run pretty much by himself..... 5 - 3 Reds

Another efficient run for the Reds in the 7th to take a 2-run lead. Keep Stubbs in the lead-off spot until he shows now that he can't! 3/4, 3R, double, SB, and forced error. Twice he went 1st to 3rd with less than two out, once on a single to CF and the other on a SB and an a throwing error. He scored three runs from #rd with less than two outs when a hit wasn't necessary. He saw 16 pitches in his first four ABs:

2-1 2B
3-2 1B
3-1 F-9
0-0 bunt single

I saw Francisco in person in Pitt get 2 or 3 hits, but he wasn't swinging for "the downs" like he has been pinch hitting the last two days!

show whatever stats you want to...Rhodes does not have the command he had earlier in the year

I bring in Masset and keep this thing tied.....Ondrusek has had trouble of late

Nice "make sure of it" turn by Valaika on the double play to end the inning on the one key pitch by Ondrusek!

Aggressive baserunning paying off for the Reds today, directly leading to 3 runs. Heisey gambling for the double to where he was knocked in by Hernandez, and Stubbs and Heisey each forcing a throwing error with their running.

I hope Stubbs isn't so dinged up from his baserunning today that he can't run down a key fly ball for an out in the 9th to help Cordero get a save.

That's the way to come up and in to Ramirez for the out. That's is the way you should pitch with a 2 run lead, rather than picking around and walking a batter to bring the trying run up!

Interesting note on after this many games in 1990 the Reds now have the same record at 75 - 55 and had a 5.5 game lead
