WEEK 2 !! Oak Harbor Vs Genoa
Might as well get this started. The Comets can retire the Celestial Trophy with a win this year. Genoa beat Rossford last night big, but no surprise there.
Oak Harbor beat Springfield even with their highly touted D1 commit Defensive Tackle.
I think this will be a better game than the previous two.

Well instead of saying Genoa by a lot, I'm going to ask this. What does Oak Harbor have this year going for them that they didn't have last year that could warrant them a chance to beat Genoa this year? It's an honest question because I don't know. I haven't heard much out of Oak Harbor all year.

bwcomet89,
Let me ask you this...how are you going to hear a lot about Oak Harbor "all year" as you put it when they are ONLY in week 2? Geesh.
Rockets have MORE confidence. Faster off/def lines than last year and some experience.
However, with that said, I still believe Genoa is several scores better.
I'll take Genoa 35-14.

A guy from Oak Harbor started this. Give him some slack he's doing the best he can lol. They still communicate via telegraph in some parts.

Oak Harbor seems to be making a bit of a resurgence this season but on paper, they still come up short by quite a ways against teams like Genoa. The Rockets have always been a predominantly ground oriented offensive football team and having seen their scrimmage against BG earler this year, which ended 0-0, I would think that Genoa is probably three or four scores better. Oak Harbor isn't too bad though.

Man, you guys are rough ! The jokes on you BW...I'm a Genoa grad, haha. Thats wer ey leernded to speil.
I'll take the Oak Harbor countryside any day over what Genoa has become. An extension of the slums of East Toledo. LOL
I will not make any prediction other than I think this will be better game than most people believe.

Where I live is completely fine, I live in Curtice and it's mostly fields so I'm all for seclusion. Oak Harbor has always smelled weird to me, like cabbage or something. I can't put my finger on it. But hey to each their own, if you like it I'm not going to criticize you for it. Also, I'd say my spelling is pretty good so you must not be talking about me. Either way it was a location joke, not saying people from Oak Harbor were dumb.
It's probably best that the clear underdog doesn't make a prediction, because it would either be you throwing your Rockets under the bus and picking against them, or setting yourself up to be trashed late friday night. I won't make a score prediction, but I will say I'm pretty confident Genoa will win this game.

Hey BW just having some good old fun before Friday comes along. I like Cutice and use to hang in the Grapevine quite a bit. I'm just a little East of you out Crane Creek way. I played for Coach Pinkerton and have the highest respect for the man.

I got to play under Pinkerton and it was a highlight of my senior year playing under him. Pink's a great man, coach, teacher, you can add a lot to that list. I'll be there friday, and if Genoa wins, drinks are on you. All in good fun right? lol.

We usually go to the Country Keg after the Genoa / OH game. I love the dark draft there ! If you've never had it, you have not lived, haha.bwcomet89;466743 wrote:I got to play under Pinkerton and it was a highlight of my senior year playing under him. Then I have not lived! Is it safe for a Genoa fan to be in there? Especially if Genoa has just beaten OH? lol. If so I'd be all for a post game brew.

Sorry BW, I have to work early Saturday morning. No Keg for me Friday night.
Love reading your posts on the other site about the Northwood v Lake game, haha.
I know scrimmages and 7/7s dont mean a bunch but...OH scrimmaged Lake and if there could be a winner it would have been OH easily. I watched Northwood in a 7/7 and I was thinking to myself, I'm glad we don't play them this year ! Emotion or not, Northwood wins by a bunch over Lake.

That's ok, I shouldn't be out late either. I couldn't help myself on the "major league" site, that guy is so easy to rile up lol.
Ever since Genoa used to win 7on7 tournaments, and then lose 7-9 games come regular season, I can't put much stock in 7on7 tourneys. But on tomorrow night's game I hope it's close(But still a Genoa victory) because that means this rivalry may just be competitive for the first time in how many years. It may also save a job.

^^^I can only speak for Oak Harbor. Last week they made a furious comeback in the 4th quarter to beat Springfield 24 - 16. OH has a very talented offense and like anyone if the QB gets time to throw, they will gain yards in big chunks. The defense came up strong last week with a couple of nice turnovers late to seal the game. It was a fairly good game last year that Genoa won and I expect another close one this year.

15-7 final. Good game by Oak Harbor. If OH could have capitalized on some of the opportunites it could have been a very different score. Genoa's secondary got torched a few times, but settled down with their backs against the wall. Oak Harbor is definately on their way back though.

15-7 really? Did Genoa not play their best or has OH really improved?

A little bit of both. Genoa had I believe an INT and 2 fumbles, they also didn't run the ball too well. Cuevas was out early with a shoulder injury and Dufendock was in and out with a leg injury too, but a lot of credit is to be given to OH's defense. Their d-line played well. Number 27 for Oak Harbor had a nice game too at wr and safety. They will make some noise in the SBC. This also gives some appeal next week for the Genoa/Port Clinton, Genoa's secondary is young and Port Clinton has some receivers.
