So I ordered a macbook on Monday for med school, and I'm waiting for it to ship via UPS. The free printer and ipod that i got with it have already arrived.

My UPS tracking status has said the following bullshit since Monday night.

Status:
Billing Information Received
Shipped To:
DUBLIN, OH, US
Shipped/Billed On:
08/23/2010

Apple and UPS both blame it on each other and say call next week if its not in. Well fuck I want my damn laptop before next week. Nobody knows where my $1100 computer is?!?!?!?!

Any words of advice before I murder Steve Jobs and whoever runs UPS?

No updates. And no origin scan to tell me where its coming from. Ups claims they do not physically have it but apple claims it shipped monday.

Well I love my macbook so don't blame apple:) seriously that sucks if Apple shipped it they should be able to provide you with proof of that from UPS so at that point it would be on UPS, just my thought there.

Normally it would get scanned on the spot as it is received from Apple (as it got on the truck).

Willing to bet they forgot to scan it.

I think that just means that they've created a shipping label. Or pretty much the UPS man hasn't picked it up from Apple's shipping area.

Wouldn't it eventually get scanned into the system, say like when it was scanned into columbus?

If its still sitting at the apple warehouse i'm going to be pissed.

This. If it says shipping info recieved that doesn't mean they have actually gotten the item in their hands.

Apple is flawless. Ask all the fanboys here. Has to be UPS's fault.

Nah that is how the others feel about those with Apple products, if they screw up I'll tell ya. Personally been good with me. 2 Iphones, Ipod Touch, Macbook so far so good. Apple certainly could have been at fault here just as much as UPS, I was saying Apple would have proof from UPS if UPS took the package.

It should've been scanned when it arrived to the trailer. Unless, (this happens a lot) the person missed the scan on the box.

Over at FedEx it can be very difficult to get 100% on scanning in a door, depending how much volume is heading to the door it's being shipped in.

The thing that bothers me is on the packing slip for the printer it shows that the macbook and printer were packed together from the same warehouse. Printer came wednesday still nothing on the macbook.

Sounds like it's Apple's fault. Whoever created the label either wasn't the person who filled the order or is a complete 'tard. Sounds like they assumed it would all ship together and then left the package on the floor or something. My company ships stuff UPS and everytime we create a label, that "Billing Information Receive" is always the first thing that pops up on the UPS website. They definitely haven't picked up that package...or at least that particular label hasn't been scanned. My guess is that Apple made that label, but then assumed the Macbook shipped with the iPod and printer.

I'd call Apple and yell at them because they screwed up the shipping. They owe you a Macbook.

Look at the bright side: now you can ask Apple for a refund and buy a real computer.

total bummer there. it'd almost seem like this is apples fault or at the very least, they should be on the hook for making it right.

Dispute the charge with your credit card company. That will light a fire under their asses.

Update: Apple has filed a claim with UPS on my behalf. They could just be sweet talking me though.

If I don't get it by Monday I can drive out to Easton and pick one up along with $25 in accessories for my troubles.

We'll see.

UPS Big Rig Crashes, Burns On I-4

A UPS double tractor-trailer burst into flames after crashing into a sport utility vehicle on Interstate 4 in Orange County early Friday morning, causing major traffic delays and damaging numerous packages.
One of the trailers overturned, and numerous UPS packages were damaged in the crash and by water as firefighters extinguished the blaze.
Officials said everything in one trailer was destroyed, but they are sifting through the second trailer to see if anything is salvageable.

Steve Jobs in his unending quest to "simplify" computers (removing mouse buttons, right click menus, etc) has decided to not actually ship computers anymore. They are simply too complicated. No matter how many mouse buttons he eliminates they have to have keyboards and Jobs cannot abide this. This is why everyone will now only get their Ipods and Iphones which are notably without keyboards.

Yes but what Apple isn't telling you is if the claim is justified you will only receive a partial credit on your $1,100 unless the shipment was insured.

I'd opt for the Easton trip and tell CrApple to screw itself.
