And people say Ohio State fans are bad? We wouldn't sucker punch our own player? Just send meaningless death threats like some did to Ryan Hamby.

Seriously, why would you punch your starting QB who is possibly the best QB in the country this year?

And it seems alot of these stupid people are college football fans. I don't get why some people take it this far.

Me either, if this guy were a Notre Dame fan, he should be begging Clausen to stay another year. Or if he leaves, be thanking him for everything he's done, if not for Jimmy, they might have two wins. Ridiculous and stupid fan.

Why would anyone want to coach this disaster of a football program? They're 1-9 in their last 10 bowls (with the win against a .500 Hawaii team last year). They play in a cold weather city. Their last 4 coaches essentially ruined their careers there (Davie, O'Leary, Ty, Weis). They have irrational expectations and delusions of grandeur. Their fans are punching their top 10 pick QB. Their best skill position players are headed to the NFL.

I don't care how good they were in the 1930s and 40s. That was 80 years ago. They suck now and that's not changing anytime soon.

Why is he a "fan"? What in this story leads us to believe he is a "fan"? Maybe he is just a "guy"? Saying Jimmy Clausen was sucker punched by a fan implies to me that it happened at the game or around the stadium, not at some restaurant hours after the game.

Where does the author of this story come off calling this guy a "fan"? Maybe if he confronted Clausen about the game you could say that but if the author of this article knew that they would certainly include it in the story. Instead we get:
The fan allegedly said something to Clausen and/or a female acquaintance.
Wow. So did he question his ability? Knock him for losing to Uconn? Say something about his girlfriend?

Sorry if it seems like I'm nitpicking but this is just shitty fucking journalism by ESPN again. Tabloid journalism.

If I punch Tom Brady in the face, would I be called a crazy "fan" even though I could give a shit about Tom Brady, the Patriots, or the NFL?

Actually it's a student (I believe alumnist now) who is friends with many on the team. He told Jimmy to back off and punched him when he didn't. That's all there is to that story

The way I look at it, Rock.....wonderboy can ask the next head coach at Notre Dame that question. And as for being successful 80 years ago....ND was pretty successful 20 years ago if I remember correctly. A while ago sure, but not 70 or 80 years ago. You don't have to go back that far.

If I were Clausen it would sure make me think more about entering the draft. Look what happened to Bradford this year staying at Oklahoma. Some stay and improve their stock for the NFL while others get injured or have a bad year thus lowering their position in the draft.

No joke. I was critcal of Jimmy prior to the year, but he's been nothing but great this year. He's the best QB ND's had in a long time.
