Just tuned into the game on the river and its halftime. Big Red is up 30-0... I haven't been able to hear whats been going on and this is not ment to be an ***hole question, I just wondered if Big Red is playing that good, or is inkster playing that bad or a combo or both?

Inkster did not get a first down until under 3 min left in the half.
Big Red is running over them. It's ugly.
Heading to the bar this is to boring to listen to.
Thought it would be closer.

By the way thanks to war_admiral for the link.

I saw the game and I have the same question you have. Big Red completely dominated this team. Even our second stringers looked good against their first stringers. Our second team had one particularly good goal-line stand.

The biggest shock of the night was Buchtel's thumping of Massillon. It was not even close. I was hoping both Big Red and Massillon would be undefeated going into our game in week 7, but now that definitely is not going to happen.

This is going to be a strange season.

36-0. It was 30-0 in the second quarter when our coach started putting in the second team. Big Red scored the first five times we had the ball. We even kicked a field goal which is the first one as far back as I can remember. Our kicking game (along with everything else) looked very good.

Big Red cruised to a 36-0 victory to redeem ourselves against the team that snapped the regular season/home winning streaks last season. Coming in, I had heard that -- even without Devon Gardner -- this Inkster team had the potential to be as good or better than they were last year.

If that is the case (I don't believe it is), then this Big Red team is 100x better than last year. We basically pushed them all over the field. Skill positions really never came into play, as our offensive and defensive lines completely dominated.

I was especially impressed with the offensive line. We are normally known for having undersized lines that utilize speed, technique and schemes to offset size disadvantages. This year, we are big and deep across the front. I think our starting five linemen average 270 pounds and they are mean and can move.

It was 30-0 at half and our second and third stringers played the entire second half.

Oh, btw... Najee Murray (junior D-I collegiate recruit as a safety) is incredible at his new spot of flanker. He had two touchdown catches tonight in which he completely smoked very athletic DBs for Inkster.

Good way to start the season, guys.

???? Huh?? Skill positions never came into play but Murray has two touchdown catches from the flanker position?

Congrats Steubenville on an opening win.

BigRed looked fantastic!!! I was very impressed that both teams were very disciplined!! Great leadership on both sides!! Inkster had alot of penalties for jumping, but BR is good at making that happen. Great job boys!! Keep up the hard work, and we can take this all the way!! RRR
How about that field goal?????

I have no idea how the preseason hype about Inkster got started. It's been common knowledge for awhile that they weren't going to be even close to last years team. That being said, it's still an extremely impressive performance by Steuby!

I think their showing against Brother Rice in a scrimmage, plus all the talent they have returning from last year fueled the hype.

In fairness to them, take a Devon Gardner off of any team in the country and they are not going to be as explosive on offense. He made everyone around him that much more dangerous last year.

Besides that, Big Red is a much better overall team this year.

I thought that it was relatively obvious that I was referring to their skill position players never being a factor. :shrugs:

Very unimpressed by Inkster as they have a rep for being well coached. Obviously they are less talented than SHS but they didn't seem to be up for the game. They played with no fire or passion whatsoever. p

I watched the Big Red game from my regular reserved seat in the main stands. Then I watched the Central game from the new end zone. I was very impressed. The hand railing was great for someone like me. The seats are comfortable and you can see very well.

My only complaint about the whole evening was the P.A. system. It definitely needs work. And they should not try to use it for sound effects during the game. That's why we have the band.

glad we have a roving reporter for all things big red now! and i MEAN THAT. I was wondering how the students, band or fans felt about the new stands. Thanks for that in depth reporting FWK.
As for the PA system you would have hated to be in DEATH VALLEY during the Massillon game last yr. lol I like it and it's intimidating to other teams...just ask Massillon.

Why was it that the Big Red P.A. announcer kept cutting in and out, but during the Central game there was never that problem? Is that being caused by all the sound effects? It gets pretty frustrating trying to make out what he is saying half the time.

No, it's not the fault of the system or sound effects.

Only time will tell if Inkster is a good team again this year . Id say last year they got us when we were a little wore down and they were desperate for a win . This year we came in healthy and hungry and they were young and hesitant . Mckeesport is a big boy school and they kicked the crap out of that team from Philly last year but lost by a fluke . two scores and an onsides kick in the final moments last year . .. Should be a fun game to watch up there in Mollenkoph . or I mean the Wolverina .
