Expectations were huge from day one.. sure all of those teams should have been better, but seeing him saturday I couldn't help but kind of feel bad for him.

If he didn't come in acting so incredibly arrogant... maybe. But he came in bragging about how great they would be and how great he was (his schematic advantage). He set himself up for a big fall.

A small part of me felt bad for him in a way, but I have to agree with those who said he set himself up for this with some of the things he said when he got hired.

How can you feel bad for him? He basically acted like the expectations were in the bag for him.

Plus, the recruiting classes he has brought him should have ND ranked in the Top 10-15 right now along with the schedule they had this year.

He looked like the saddest man in the world after the game while everyone was singing the Notre Dame alma mater.

I don't feel bad for him, especially after his presser comments where he stated ND's current 6-5 record isn't good enough and he'd have no basis to argue a decision to let him go.

One other thing, Charlie will be smiling all the way to the bank when he's fired and he will not be short of work, an NFL franchise will hire him on the drop of a dime.........no need to feel sorry.

I actually do feel bad for him. He loves the university and he really, really put in the effort. His work ethic (check how many hours he put in a week) is nothing short of incredible. He's an alum who wanted nothing more than to bring his school back to greatness. Charlie Weis the coach I don't feel sorry for because he couldn't do the job. Charlie Weis the man I feel very sorry for. I don't really like seeing people fail, especially when they've done everything they could have. Seeing him walk out the tunnel with locked arms and tears streaming down made me feel a lot of pity for him.

True, being a Michigan fan I'm surprised you feel bad for a man who failed at Notre Dame lol.

The guy makes somewhere between 2 and 4 million coaching a football team/endorsements/speaking engagements. No...I feel sorry for people who are losing real jobs.

I don't feel bad for Weis. Why would I? He was hired to do a job and paid extremely well to do that job. He has not done that job and has had enough time to implement his players and his system. The college game is not for Weis, maybe being a Head Coach isn't, I don't know.

One thing is for sure though, I don't feel bad for anyone that is given a BIG contract to do a job and then can't perform. Nothing has been denied Charlie. He is at one of the most storied programs ever and still can't get them to where they should be. It shouldn't be difficult to recruit the talent (he has recruited the talented). He has sellout crowds and the university has their own tv contract. It is attractive to play at ND. He just can't develop the talent the proper way.

If I was a ND fan, I wouldn't be foaming at the mouth for Charlie to leave. As long as he is there, ND will be a .500 team at best.

Oh, I am foaming at the mouth for him to be gone. When I said a I felt a little bad for him it was just me being a sap when he was tearing up. Many of you have stated the reasons why no one should feel sorry for him and they're legit reasons that I agree with.

I don't feel sorry for anybody who is making the kind of money Weis is making doing something which they love to do. And, if he is fired by ND, he will receive a nice sized buyout, and have no problem at all being hired by an NFL or major college team as an Offensive Coordinator.

Also, anybody who takes the HC job at ND knows the expectations, and even Weis stated this week he could not argue with the AD and school administration at ND if they opt to fire him after this season. Weis said he totally understands that at ND, being 6-5 after 11 games does not "cut it".

Now, I totally disagree with any type of personal attacks people make at Weis, and think that crosses the line. Unfortunately, we live in a society where some people take sports way to serious, and there are some individuals who will see reason to attack Weis as a person, rather than keeping their criticism to his job performance at ND.
