The problem might be Mike Leake and his 36 earned runs allowed (technically, 42 ER's) in his last 10 starts.

Talk about a guy taking on water FAST. Would've loved to see Leake put on the DL, Wood brought up to replace him and Bailey still starting for Cueto tomorrow.

Wood is starting for Louisville tonight...isn't it ironic that the AAA squad will have a better pitcher going for a team in dire need of winning every game?

To say Leake is on a short leash from here on out is an understatement.

Leake had better get his shit together tonight. Enough is enough.

More than 4 ER and I don't see how you justify not doing something.

And it would be nice if a shower or two came through before first pitch, the humidity is awful today.

The game going on now in StL on Fox is showing some promise as Carpenter's team gave him a lead in the bottom of the first. He failed to hold onto it for even one pitch in the top of the 2nd, and all told the Cubs scored two on 3 EBHs to take a 2-1 lead for Zambrano and the Cub defense to try to hold on to.

Indeed. I just drove through a bitch of a storm up near the outlets on 71 on my way back to cinci. Hopefully it's on its way here too.

We've got a really good storm coming thru right now. Severe thunderstorm warning actually. It looks like it will be gone pretty quick though.

I don't blame Leake..YOU KNOW he's giving all he has.....he is worn down and won't consistently improve until he gets the necessary rest. He'll continue to look like Harang did after pitching 4 innings in the extremely long game in san Diego a few years ago....Harang has not been good since then.....gotta watch Leake closely.

Wood pitching tonight in the minors infuriates me.

Was I the only one tempted to go to Columbus tonight wearing all Reds stuff and yell at Harang telling him my back would hurt too if i was getting bent over all the time? I can't be.

serious back injuries (which I'll assume he has) aren't too funny...I like Harang.....I don't want him pitching for the Reds when it matters...though I'd rather him start for Cueto than Homer.

I don't buy for one second that he was actually hurt. It gave off the vibe that he was too respected in the front office to just be sent down due to performance. The guy was awful for us. He showed 4/5 guy stuff, not ace stuff. And didnt last year either.

It's time for Leake to step up tonight. If he gets knocked around again, I imagine we won't be hearing about how he has never pitched in the minor leagues anymore.

Did anybody watch the Cards-Cubs game earlier. Carpenter was getting hit a little bit at the beginning and the announcers tried to say that Cueto's kicks might be affecting him. Haha. They were acting like it happened last night. It is getting close to being a week since that happened.

Pathetic display by the top two hitters in the Reds order in the 3rd of a scorless game after Janish doubles to lead off, and then Leake bunts him to 3rd and is safe at first, giving both Phillips and Heisey a chance with runner on 3rd and less than one out. Both failed miserably and struck out, and the Reds failed to take the early lead -- still 0-0.

Yeah, the 3rd was definitely less than impressive for us. Leake doing fairly well though. Of course that probably jinxes him.

West is starting to fall apart. Great squeeze by Janish.

A very risky squeeze on a 0-0 count with a pitcher who has thrown pitches all over the yard in the inning. Great job by Janish.

Reds don't miss their chances in the 4th with big RBIs by Hernandez, Janish, and Leake(7,8,9) after West has control problems and walks the first two batters!

I'm thinking BPs leg where he got hit last Saturday is hurting him such that when he flagged the sharp grounder down up the middle off of Morrison caused him to pivot in the opposite way he would normally and Morrison's hustle got a base hit for him. Then that runner on made Uggla's shot a 2 run HR to close it to 3-2.

So Leake let them neutralize all the runs that he didn't knock in!

That HR pitch was served on a platter too...lets hope the Reds can get a few back with the top of the order up.
