Was that play at the plate close? I'm only watching the gamecast.

Wow, that laser throw by Hanley really took the Reds out of a possible big inning. After the first three batters got a walk and two line shot hits, the situation should be better than on in, one on, and one out!

It was very close but obviously out with a tag on the wrist just before the hand reached the plate.

The Reds got a lot out of the 4th with 3 runs, and very little out of the 5th with just one run, and only lead 4-2. Leake needs to be closely watched in the 6th with the bullpen warming before he even throws a pitch in the 6th.

Reds missing chances and the Marlins hanging around. It should be 6 or 7-3 right now. The Berry decision to send Votto was awful with a struggling pitcher and no outs. Gomes 1-out AB was even worse. And the failure to get anything in the third was bad. Hopefully we don't have to sweat it out with Coco with a 1-run lead...

Being aggressive isn't always the best thing...knowing when to is critical

Those are a lot of words to say 'lose'.

Yeah, but! He had one productive out out of three, and it was in the worst of West's control issue. With his speed he should have bunted to move up both runners with no out, and maybe beat it out himself. But even after he was up 3-0 in the count, all he can muster is moving one of the two runners up. Good thing the 7,8,9 hitters came through.

Dusty previously said about Leake that they need to start watching him close when he nears 80 pitches as he seems to go bad quickly. My question is with Leake entering the 6th with 90 pitches with the very stressful humidiity, and having just given up a 2 run homer the previous inning, did the Reds even have a pitcher warming in the bullpen at any time in the 6th? Leake got a tremendous break on the ump giving him a K for the 2nd out after the HR, that him limp on thru the 6th allowing only the one run.

Masset throws a curve ball strike on the first pitch, but doesn't get credit for it, then gets Sanchez to line into a doble play that is better than a 4-6-3 DP!

So, assuming the Reds get no more runs, which they badly need to do, who will Speier and Price use to get the last 6 outs? Masset is due up 8th in the 7th and used 15 pitches to get 3 outs.

Ondrusek? When is the last time he pitched?

Ondrusek threw yesterday. My guess is Masset stays on because Florida has all righties in the lineup. If it gets to Masset, that means it will be a 3-4 run lead.

Is it just me or when Stanton is in his hitting crouch does he appear to have legs that would be on a 7'6 linebacker?

Masset dispatches the Marlins without trouble in the 8th on just 10 more pitches. So I guess it'll be Coco in the 9th with the opportunity to take away another Leake win with a blown save. I don't know if it is even worth the Reds effort to try to get an insurance run or two, as coco will probably put on however many it take to bring up the tying and winning runs to the plate or worse!
