Although I have never been to Miami, that is the only one that is surprising on this list. I think LA is amazingly overrated, and Phoenix is a complete bore of a city. The rest are basically self explanatory (PS, I love Vegas, but not to live) ...

I think I can understand why LA and Miami would be on there. Although both are awesome cities, they are really only awesome for the wealthy. You are either living in a $1 million dollar house, or in poverty. There really isn't as much of a middle class as other cities.

I understand the others, other than maybe Phoenix. I have absolutely no desire to live or visit Phoenix because the desert and mountains don't do it for me, but I know there is a large population that likes that.

I don't think the first two would qualify as actual cities.

South Chicago is a suburb of Chicago.

Memphis is bad.

I have been to Miami about 10 times in my life and there is alot of good in Miami but it doesn't outway the bad. Little Havanna is an absolute shithole but does have alot of good Cuban restaurants. The crime rate is very high in the Miami/Dade metroplex and the unemployment rate is high as well. I know alot of people who were born and raised there and left because they felt that they were the last Americans left there. As the saying goes "the last American to leave Miami, bring the flag with them"

I can understand why LA is on there...when I was there, there were homeless people hanging around the closest gas station to LAX. Sure there is Hollywood, but there were parts there where I felt like I was in the hood, on hollywood blvd. There was 95% Mexicans there it seemed like and it was probably the dirtiest city i've ever been to. I stayed as far away from Compton/South LA as I could. I would say Santa Monica was one of the nicer areas.

I don't think I would ever live in the city of Miami...however, I would much rather live in Ft. Lauderdale, Hollywood or West Palm Beach.

Same with Vegas, I'd visit...but maybe live in Henderson.

I saw a special on TV somewhere a few weeks ago talking about how gang activity is huge in OKC.
